5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, am i the only one who loves this??
After reading all 3 1-star comments i was reluctant to post my review... yet i must! because i have had NO problems with this shaker.. infact, i have had nothing but compliments from my friends when they see me using it... I love the large size & love the fact that its glass.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money!
Almost immediately, the gasket comes off, which of course destroys the seal, and it leaks. You can put the gasket back on, but it comes off again, and is very difficult to put back on. Save your money, and get a steel one at Wal-Mart for about $8! This is the *second* time I've written this review - hope it shows up this time. I was very disappointed. I *did not* put...

I *did not* put the shaker into the dishwasher, so that's not the reason the gasket came off.

I have been looking for a glass cocktail shaker for years to replace the chipped one we are limping along with. I want glass so that it is easy to see how much is in the shaker.
I even bought TWO of these in case it broke so I wouldn't have to search around again.

What a disappointment. First of all, the cap on the strainer gets stuck very easily so that you can't pour the drink. Then, the strainer doesn't stay on. I have tried repositioning the rubber gasket a number of different ways. You think you have the strainer on, go to pour the drink, and end up with your drink all over the table instead of in your glass.

Waste of money and good liquor.

5.0 out of 5 stars 1st World, May 8, 2010

Now, it may seem odd that someone would take the time to review a household appliance as mundane as a cocktail shaker. This, however, is not only a review of a glass & chrome utensil, but of an entire outlook towards one's personal possessions.

Whether or not you realize it, your stuff is important to you. It can smooth the path for you, or it can drive you crazy in a thousand small ways. Personal possessions, and how you care for them, say a great deal about you - and speak too you, also.

I was not, until recently, in the habit of looking out the country of origin of things that I bought. But then, by small degrees, I began to notice that small goods were falling apart much faster than they used to. In fact, many items that one should expect to keep for a life-time were expiring within a couple of years. And things did not work quite right. I give you the cocktail shaker, purchased at Macy's in Los Angeles for about the same price as the Bormioli, that has been a public nuisance since the day it came out of the box. The thing leaks, the top / strainer became welded tight after the second use, the bottom has caved out from ice cubes banging against it, so that now it will not sit flat on the drinks tray. My parent's shaker, a wedding gift purchased at Tiffany, is still giving happy, reliable service after 50 years, so what is this all about?

Well, on the bottom of my shaker, in the finest of fine print, are the dreaded words: Made in China.

I ordered the Bormioli shaker, it arrived promptly and in tact, as my Amazon purchases always do, and it is a joy to behold as well as to use. I have not experienced any of the difficulties other reviewers here have noted. The top / gasket seats nicely onto the glass, the strainer comes on-and-off without difficulty and without leaking, the construction is robust, the workmanship is excellent. And the thing's got sex appeal.

I suppose that I could have saved a dollar or two by buying some piece of rubbish put together by a political prisoner under the lash, but I didn't, and I never will again.

Shipped direct from Amazon, the Bormioli Rocco Party Glass Cocktail Shaker arrived in pieces. I heard the rattle before I opened the box. Is there no quality control in the distribution center? It doesn't require much sense, common or uncommon, to know that a smaller box placed inside a larger box without sufficient material around the smaller box will make breakage VERY likely. Sigh. I doubt I will order anything fragile shipped from Amazon again.
