5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Jars
The jars come with their own one-piece lids, but the regular-mouth lids fit on these and seal well. They are expensive, but the half-pint jars are pretty with the relief script of Quattro Stagioni on one side of the jar while the other sports a relief with fruit, a beehive, a butterfly, and some bees which I wasn't able to discern in the picture.

3.0 out of 5 stars attractive but tempermental for canning
These are very attractive jars, they have a pretty shape and design. I used them to can some apple butter I made and the results I had were mixed. Other reviewers have noted lots of sealing failures when using these for canning and I personally had a 50% success rate on my first batch (which is pretty low). After the first batch, I figured out the problem. Unlike the...

For those of you who treasured the lovely little round 8 0z. jar once on market from "B--l, the canning jar compay (sadly they no longer offer) these jars are a "FIND".
I have not yet used but these are QUALITY worth the price if you really enjoy your canning supplies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great as baby food jars, April 6, 2011

I purchased these jars because I decided to make my own baby food and wanted to store the food in glass rather than plastic Tupperware. These are wonderful. I love the one piece lids as well! Everyone always comments on how beautiful the jars are when they see me feeding my son with them.

very cute and easy to work with on my Christmas cranberry jams. the only thing i did to dress them up for gifts was tie with raffia ribbon.

also, i didn't have to boil them, just filled them with hot jam and turned upside down to cool, the lids inverted naturally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Jars!, December 18, 2010

Every Christmas we make jam from an "old family recipe" and give it to special friends as a gift. Surprisingly, they look forward to it every year! We usually put the jam in the type jars you can find in any grocery store but this year we wanted to use something a little different, hoping to make our gift a little more special. Looking for canning jars on Amazon we found the Bormioli Rocco Quattro Stagioni from Italy and liked the shape and design on them so placed the order. They were perfect, easy to use, different from the usual canning jars, and made our jam presentation all that much more original. The lids are all one piece (instead of the two-piece lid & rim type) but they sealed perfectly and worked just as well. I will definitely order more, perhaps even in the different jar sizes.

Perfect size as well as very nice to look at. I bought to them to make and gift marmalades during the Holidays and they were great. The size is large enough that you get some decent amount of jelly/preserve inside at the same time they are not huge. They are also very nice to look at. I will stick to these for my future jam making sessions !

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not use for canning, December 8, 2011
This review is from: Bormioli Rocco Quattro Stagioni 8 1/2 Ounce Canning Jar, Set of 12 (Kitchen)
If you want these for decor, go for it. But do not use them for canning. Initially, all but one (out of 12) jar sealed when I went through the canning process. I kept them in a pantry for about a week, and all but two of the tops popped. I bought these because I wanted to try the new, attractive jar for canning...but don't do it. It is a waste of time and product to use these for canning.

3.0 out of 5 stars attractive but tempermental for canning, October 24, 2011
This review is from: Bormioli Rocco Quattro Stagioni 8 1/2 Ounce Canning Jar, Set of 12 (Kitchen)
Unlike the more common canning jars, this jar uses a one-piece lid. If you don't have the lid screwed on just right, it can be too loose to form the vacuum. AND the lids tended to loosen during processing. After reprocessing my jars, I checked the lids and they had definitely loosened during the processing step (and I was super careful tightening them before I put them in). I retightened all of them and they all sealed perfectly.
While the design is pretty, they are definitely a bit on the tempermental side. Unless looks are important, I would suggest a different set of canning jars.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, October 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bormioli Rocco Quattro Stagioni 8 1/2 Ounce Canning Jar, Set of 12 (Kitchen)
I began canning this summer and was charmed by how attractive these jars looked online. Unfortunately, they require a more laborious process for water canning than the 3-part type of lids I am accustomed to using. Also, even after trying to process these jars twice, only about 1/3 of my jars sealed adequately. The item I was canning was meant to be Christmas gifts, which was why I was okay with the added expense for these jars. I will not buy these again and will only be using the ones I have already purchased as little flower vases or storage jars for spices or something. For the extra price and effort, these were very disappointing. Ball and Kerr jars have my business back completely.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pricey! Great for Spices, August 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bormioli Rocco Quattro Stagioni 8 1/2 Ounce Canning Jar, Set of 12 (Kitchen)
These are great for storing spices. Not sure about canning but it appears the lid is a one part deal and the plastic red seal is in the lid. not sure if this is magical glass or why it is so much more expensive.
