shipped very fast , i saw Chuck Colson speak in 1980 and after all these years

finally read his book. i'm glad i didn't read it until now. to look back at everything

that was going on in the whitehouse with nixon and the war, and how this one man

humbled himself before God and the miracles that followed is awesome. Highly

recommend the book.

Charles Colson has channeled his Ivy League education and rich array of life experience as a USMC officer, corporate attorney, White House counsel, and political prisoner to serve for over 30 years as one of the most intelligent and articulate spokesman for Christian principles. In this lucid and heartfelt biography, this modest man reveals how he braved a clearly unjust prison sentence to transform a horrific experience into a lifetime calling for inspiring millions. Colson's mastery of the English language makes the account read like a novel.

I was not looking forward to reading this book, but it was selected by our book club, so I started reading. A few chapters in, and I completely changed my outlook. Highly recommend. The kindle version has a tremendous amount of typos otherwise I would give it 5 stars.

I usually read only 30-45 MAX, but I've found myself into the wee hours with this one. 3 hours just wizzed by and I could not put it down. I find myself looking forward to coming home while at work, just so I can finish it. Any reviewers, likely haters of conservatives, Nixon, or specfically Colson himself may have written a few reviews to detur you, but don't. Just look at the current 4-5 star rating. This book has nothing to do with being liberal or conservative. It actually shows how belief in Jesus made arch enemies of Nixon/Colson come together in brotherhood, praying together and becoming friends. Colson's going from being a limousined elite, with an office next door to the President, to emboiled in a scandle of being a hatchetman, leaking inlfamatory info to descredit others (self admittedly after finding God), and taking him to Prison where he must constantly check his back, to eventually giving himself to the cause of prison ministry AFTER HE GOT OUT. I don't do it justice, but you will enjoy.

I had the unique privilege of working with Chuck for three years. But before I ever knew that I would, I read this book -- not expecting much. At the time, like most people, I thought Colson was using his "conversion" to make himself more palatable to the public. I found that I was wrong -- terribly wrong. Hence, when the opportunity came to work for him, I leaped at it. The thing that caused me to find this book so compelling, is Colson's naked honesty with himself. It is the story of one man searching his soul after being involved in the political wasteland. In this book as well as in his life, Colson proves something which I believe most profoundly: when someone reaches for God, God always reaches back. -- Paul Morris, author of The Justus Scrolls.

What an exceptional book. I learned a lot spiritually, historically and even some leadership lessons, too. I've heard of this book for years, but I never took the time to read it. I have read some of Colson's other works, but I never knew he was such a good writer of his own story! He did an excellent job of drawing the reader into the story, and making me feel like I was right there. I waited way too long to read this book. Excellent work.

It was very interesting to read through the Watergate history through a first person account. Chuck has warts just like we all do and made some terrible decisions but God worked through him, his faith is genuine, and he has reached so many of the lost - certainly seems to have a better walk than I do! I had to really concentrate at parts due to the depth of the legal/political information, but would definitely recommend this book.
