Mica Paris really rocked the music scene back in 1989 with her debut Island Records album, "So Good". I played my cassette until it was well worn out. "Breathe Life", the title song and "My One Temptation" were awesome. Unlike many, I followed her every since. I love her smokey low ranged voice. Time has not eroded her voice. In fact, I find that she has gotten better with her latest release, "Born Again". Her acoustic remake of "My One Temptation" and a live recording of "Summertime" further reveal that she is true talent without the hype. The cover shot pic of her is hot. Strike a pose! Mica Paris is "BORN AGAIN".
Mica Paris has a one of kind voice. Its soulful, gospel & rocky all mixed together. She is pitch perfect. I have loved her since So Good. Her albums have always been a mixed bag of different styles of music, tied together with her expressive vocals. I havent been this excited by an entire CD since Anita Baker Rapture!!!. The songs have excellent melodies coupled with lyrics that don't sound stupid to the over 35 crowd. The star of this CD is her voice. It's gotten so much deeper & soulful. It is a shame that this isn't available in the US (BUY THE IMPORT!!!). The standouts here are The Hardest Thing (sounds like it should have been on Soul Classics CD), Born Again, Hold On and Nothing But The Truth. If you aren't shouting along with the crowd at the end of Summertime, check your pulse. There is not one bad song or filler on this CD. This is the CD of the year.
This album was so worth the wait! Mica Paris gives us a great mix of Motown, smooth R&B, jazz, pop, dance and acoustic soul and does it with her beautiful perfect voice. This album further establishes her title as the Queen of UK soul. It's a shame they don't appreciate true singers and artists like her here in the US, they'd rather listen to the non-singing skanks of today instead of someone who doesn't need to put electronic crap on their voice and looks and sounds phenominal. Thank you for another great album, Ms. Paris, please come to NYC and perform soon!
well ! this is one of the best soul vocalists ever in the british scenario. This album is a "sans faute" Excellent from the first to the last track. Her vocals are powerfull and so intimate you have the impression you're making love when listening to it. And she should be considered as a pop singer as well not only an R&B performer. I am just concerned that this album does not get the midia she deserves! Have it! it will be a soundtrack on your life!
Special 2010 Edition of this critically-acclaimed album has been repackaged and includes three new bonus tracks: 'Take It Back,' by Wrapt-Up Productions featuring Mica,, a wicked remix of 'Take It Back' by Moto Blanco, and a Stonebridge remix of album track 'The Hardest Thing'. This album marks the triumphant return of the British Soul vocalist. After 22 years in the business and five albums under her belt, critics are hailing Born Again the album of her career. This collection of songs perfectly showcases the vocals of the UK's Soul Queen, vocals that have been admired and beloved by music legends such as Prince, Peter Gabriel, Dave Gilmour, Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones, and Natalie Cole. Blending classic Motown grooves with a distinctly modern production and emotive lyrics, Mica is singing from the bottom of her heart. This is no more evident than on the albums title track. `Born Again' an epic ballad, sweeping strings and cut glass arrangement with a vocal that leaves you tingling. Rhythm Riders.

Her voice is amazing on this CD- especially in Eric Benet song "You're The Only One." That was an instant hit with me but after hearing her version of the song, I actually like hers better! I wonder if Eric has heard it. I've been a fan of her music since her first CD release.
I just wish she would tour in the United States. Maybe one day..?
