4.0 out of 5 stars Warm and inviting, August 4, 2006
This review is from: Born Again (Audio CD)
Tom Scott has an impressive and diverse resume that includes: playing saxophone as a guest musician, composing film and TV scores, and numerous solo releases. Chances are you've heard him play but didn't realize who it was. "Born Again" is not a fusion outing, as many of Tom's discs are, but a return to a traditional jazz style. A more laid back affair. The players are: Randy Brecker (trumpet), Pete Christlieb (sax), George Bohanon (trombone), Kenny Kirkland (piano), John Patitucci (bass), Mike Fisher (percussion), Will Kennedy (drums), and of course, Tom Scott. The opening Wayne Shorter tune, "Children of the Night", smokes, and the remaining original Scott compositions are mellow but melodic, with great arrangements and improv work. Overall, a beautiful silky smooth groove filled disc with great playing.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's "Fresh" Retrospective Music, October 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Born Again (Audio CD)
I read a review where Tom Scott stated his work on this project consisted of all new material intentionally written with a retrospective style. It is my opinion that he accomplished that brilliantly. I purchased this CD when it first came out in 1992 and lost/misplaced it. Purchasing this item again was no question for me. My favorite track is "Free Hand." Oh yeah, I am highly recommending this CD.
