From the Back Cover

Join Brad on his wild ride as he transforms from a small-town boy into a big-time Hollywood fashionista

Fans know Brad Goreski as the fun-loving, bow-tie-wearing celebrity stylist. They have watched the reality star climb his way through the ranks of the fashion world, as he transformed himself from an assistant stylist into a full-fledged style icon. Along the way, they have experienced his near-fashion disasters and red-carpet victories.

But what they might not know is that Brad's first clients were his Barbie dolls or that he grew up in a small town far removed from the glitz of Hollywood. His love of glamour, sparkles, and costume jewelry set him apart from the other boys at school. In spite of this, he embraced his differences and followed his passion. Landing an internship and later a job at Vogue helped the young Brad break into the competitive fashion world and eventually capture the hearts of millions as the quirky and endearing assistant on The Rachel Zoe Project.

Now, for the first time ever, Brad reveals the moving story of his road to success, and offers a glimpse into his world today, filled with insider access to the countless red carpets and awards shows he has worked across the globe. Of course, Brad also shares his fashion advice, style tips, and tricks to help you look your best. Part style guide, part memoir, and full of inspiration, Born to Be Brad will delight both loyal fans and newcomers alike.

I've been a big fan of Brad Goreski since his time on The Rachael Zoe Project, and his new show, It's A Brad, Brad World, was one of my favorite new shows of the season. I find Brad to be charming, genuine, and absolutely hilarious, and I suspected that his new memoir, Born To Be Brad, would be as interesting and engaging as he is. I was right! I finished the book in one day, and my only regret is that I purchased it on my Kindle, instead of picking up the actual book, as there were several sections (featuring tips on fashion, travel, etc) that I felt would have been better appreciated on paper. On the Kindle, they were jumbled amongst the actual text, and I suspect that I also missed out on the visual impact of some of the photos, as my Kindle isn't in color.

Other than that, I was thrilled with the purchase...despite being a "reality star," Brad hasn't shared much of his personal life or his background with audiences, with the exception of a few glimpses on his show this season. As such, it was truly interesting to see how a troubled, overweight kid with a drug problem transformed into a witty, polished, promising young stylist, regularly dressing A-list actresses for red carpet events.

From his childhood as a young boy in love with sparkles, glamour, and Marilyn Monroe, to his experiences as a young assistant at Vogue and subsequent decision to venture into reality television, I loved taking this journey with Brad. If you're a fan of the show, I highly recommend picking up a copy of this book. It's far from what you'd expect from a typical "reality star," and there's style, substance, and depth in this excellent book. Many people have scoffed at the idea that a 33-year-old has written a memoir, but there's plenty here worth reading about.

He shoots straight from the hip. He had a dream and knew that someday it would become a reality. This is an easy breezy read but it will touch your heart.

Love Brad, love his perspective and his humor. He is an inspiration and he may not even realize it which is why he's so easy to like. Brad is easy to relate to - he's living amongst celebrity but you don't get the impression that he's been affected. It's more like he's in awe that he's there. His humility is so refreshing! He's smart, witty, and obviously very good at what he does. You can actually hear his voice reading his story to you. Very cleverly written, too. A very fun read. This is such a good book - highly recommend.

“You have to do what you love. Believe in yourself. Believe that things are possible and they will happen.”

An instant fan of Brad Goreski, I purchased this book immediately when it was released in 2012. I’ve had so much reading to catch up on, that I only got to ‘Born to be Brad’ just now, two years later. My only regret after reading this book is that I didn’t read it sooner.

Brad has always been open about the struggles in his life, but reading about his journey in great detail was so rewarding and refreshing. I can honestly say after reading this book that I will be a fan of Brad for life, and will continue to support HIS journey as I continue on mine.

‘Born to be Brad’ is another book that I will carry with me—literally, keeping it in my purse close at hand in case I ever need to reference his encouraging words; and figuratively, forever in my heart. His story inspires me. Who doesn’t like to root for the underdog—especially when the person perseveres, pushes through the rough times, and reaches success? Moreover, who can’t relate to the underdog? We all have a little of that—that doubt and struggle—in ourselves. Brad did. He still does. He’s human. But he refuses to let that doubt ever consume him again and instead pushes everyday to be stronger, better, and to do what he loves. And in doing so, he inspires us all to do the same.

Brad had times of struggle, but he always had a support group and he always followed his heart. It is admirable. Encouraging. Strengthening. It is heartbreaking to imagine this man, with such a big heart, love of life, passion, and talent at one point being ostracized because he didn’t fit some preconceived idea of what is ‘normal.
