I really like the colors and the pattern. This pillow is visually interesting without being an eyesore (easily matches my nursery items). The main piece will transition into a great toddler pillow, so I'm happy that the cute pattern is on that part. The velcro works well, but isn't a pain.
I only wish that this cover provided better protection for the pillow. It has about the same protection as a basic pillowcase. Having no waterproofing layer, this slip cover cannot protect the pillow from milk leakage, spit-ups, blow-outs...Any of these will immediately leak straight through.
*I discovered a cheap solution-tall kitchen garbage bags (the white ones with draw strings). The slip covers are just the right size to accommodate using a bag for each piece. Kitchen bags are the perfect size to COMPLETELY cover (you punch a small hole on totally sealed side). The other end you draw together and tie around loop or velcro tab.
You can't tell the bags are on the pillow-it still looks and feels great. No more worries...I can simply remove the covers and wash once dirty, then air dry.
Note: This cover is different than their QUILTED version. Also, only two slip cover pieces are included, but the pillow is made up of 3 parts. I think there's an assumption that one would just wash the entire smaller piece (fortunately, it matches the slip cover). Still, it would be nice to include a third piece in order to cover all three parts of the pillow.
This cover solves all of that. The cover is easy to put on and take off, uses Velcro, so it's a snap to take off, wash, and put back on quickly, even when sleep deprived. This is in stark contrast to the cover I have for the my brest friend nursing pillow, which takes ages to get on and off.
It's cute, and stylish, and I appreciate that it is unisex.
The only thing is that I wish the cover were just a little bit thicker material. If your little one falls asleep and drools milk out the side of his mouth, even a small quantity such as a half teaspoon of milk would soak right through the pillow case cover and into the pillow below.
The fabric is thin and feels a bit scratchy like a low thread count, but gets a little softer with washes.
The velcro closures are strong and hold well. Almost too well. I accidentally ripped the seams while opening them.
BOTTOM LINE: The quality is good enough. It protects a fairly expensive pillow. It will survive several washes. Your baby will probably be done nursing by the time this wears out. Can't say for sure how well it'll hold up as a hand-me-down.
