4.0 out of 5 stars Body Count - 'Born Dead' (Virgin)
'Born Dead' was the band's second out of three CD's they put out.I remember all the controversy surrounding the single of their previous effort.Sort of made me question the meaning of 'free speech' in the USA.Notice that on this platter,Body Count makes the full transition over to heavy thrashcore.'Born Dead' is a bootie-kicking twelve track disc that,in SOME ways are...

2.0 out of 5 stars God says: Buy COP KILLER, the uncensored album.
This album lacks a lot of the controversy (not all of it) of the original, uncensored "Cop Killer" (new censored version now titled Body Count). Go to eBay and find someone auctioning off the real version of the 92 album. You will like it a hell of a lot better.

5.0 out of 5 stars INSANE THRASHCORE !!!!, June 16, 2004

On this album,Ice switches to a thrashcore style lovers of the style will go mad about. The songs are mega fast, with furious social lyrics and full of hatred. If you're into thashcoreand dig bands like Ratos De Porao, get this one at once.It suffers from some degree of dynamic compression though, but if you can correct that,it'll blow your brains againt the nearest wall.

If one hears of Body Count in the morning, he may die in the evening without regret!

There is a large difference between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge is gained by reading textbooks but wisdom comes from growing up in the ghettos of Compton. In my opinion, Ice-t is the ultimate modern day wise man. Body Count is one of the tools he uses to propagate his wisdom to the rest of the world. His message to the world is very clear: Strive for unity, eradicate tyranny and fight for peace. An excellent album from a very intelligent band with tallented musicians.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe their best album, March 28, 2011
This review is from: Born Dead (Audio CD)
I love this album. Personally i don't like rap / metal with the exception of Body Count and Rage against the machine. Well this album is a perfect example of what i like. The adrenaline is super high in a way that makes you want to dance (i mean jump) in the tempo of the music. Its like a coll in your face feeling. A must for anyone who likes rap/metal or even metal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Solid Body Count Album, August 28, 2004
This review is from: Born Dead (Audio CD)
For me Ice-T is one of the best rappers ever and I've spent long hours listening to his hardcore gangster rap. Kind of odd for a middle-aged white guy but what can I say? His in your face, pro-freedom of speech attitude is one that I hold myself. He is one of the founding fathers of gangster rap and one of its most innovative lyricists. The heavy metal band Body Count allows Ice-T to really roar with energy and creative expression. I've seen Body Count live 4 times. With the release of their first two albums they played shows at Hammer Jacks in Baltimore, MD and a small venue called the 9-11 club in Washington, DC. I friend and I made both shows each time. Ice-T and Body Count put on a tremendous performance.

Born Dead follows up the controversial Body Count debut with a very solid and entertaining CD. This CD contains one of the most outstanding remakes of Jimmy Hendrix's song Hey Joe I have ever heard. It's fabulous. The hard driving Body M/F Count is such a short tune it's hard to call it a song but it gets my adrenaline pumping every time I hear it.

This is another 4 star effort by Body Count and all the songs are entertaining.

Body M/F Count *
Necessary Evil *
Hey Joe **

Ratings: CDs are rated simply by how many good songs are on the album. Great songs get two stars, and good songs get one star. Songs that get no stars are those that I might like but not enough to give it a star or ones I find boring or actively dislike. CDs are not penalized for songs that I don't like because they are easy enough to skip over. There is no maximum number of stars a CD can get, but of course the more stars it gets, the better the CD.

As with all reviews, these are my subjective opinions on the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars light like DeBussy, with overtones of Stravinsky, September 21, 2000

I was very often moved to tears by "Body Count". Not since the Beatles has anything been so refreshing, nay startling, in its efferescence and unadulterated musical joy. I think Mr. Ice should consider moving into the realm of modern Gospel music, such is the depth and profundity of his glorius music. If I were getting married, I can think of no more appropriate music for a wedding march or, for that matter, great background music for the honeymoon night. Mr. Ice has, with this record, taken his rightful place with Errol Garner, Hoagy Carmichael,Irving Berlin Leonard Bernstein and the like as one of this century's truly immortal composers. I played the record at a recent meeting of the Proud Young Americans For Truth and was completely overcome by the exhaust fumes issuing from all the dead bodies bubbling up out of the swamp. Oh, the beautiful melodies!! Oh, the emotion!! Oh, the oil plug on a 1965 Volkswagon "bug". Mr. Ice should be President of the United States in my opinion. No one could possibly be more qualified. This record has changed my life forever. Mr. Ice will, no doubt, soon be canonized and take his proper place with St. Francis and Mother Teresa. Every family in the U.S. should be required by law to play this record before dinner every night. Just think of the positive effect it would have on the youth of America!!! Pass me the beaker, Dr. Foley, if you please. I'll have to stop here. I am overcome with emotion just thinking about the illustrious Mr. Ice's gorgeous recording and my tears are starting to short out my computer keyboard. Oh the humanity!!!! Oh the humanity!!!!
