He earned his BA from Loretto Heights College in Denver, His MA in Educational Psychology from Richmond College, and began a second Masters at Syracuse and Columbia University. He became a member of the Shlessinger Foundation (a privately funded think-tank) and invitation from a Columbia University professor familiar with his research.
Among his achievements, Barry received a proclamation from 77 NY State Assemblymen for his work on stopping crime and violent criminals and was honored, along with Major Giuliani and the head of the NY State Criminal Justice System, by the New York Police Conference. Barry was also recognized by Phi Epsilon Phi as "Man of the Year" for his work in helping to prevent violent crime. He has appeared on leading radio programs including "Long John Nebel", "Barry Farber", "Bob Grant", as well as on several television news shows.
