5.0 out of 5 stars Accepted easily
My little one really likes this pacifier. I switched my daughter over from the super soothies with no problems. She also really likes the handle on this one. I like it because it doesn't rattle around like the avent one I had (that she tried and didn't really like). The only complaint I had is that I received colors that were more for boys (blue and green) as opposed...

2.0 out of 5 stars A disappointing product from BF
While we are fans of the BF bottles, the pacifiers are a real disappointment. Firstly, they don't even come with covers or a case, which is unhygenic as binkies often get dropped or collect dust if not covered. Secondly, the "Born Free" logo starts rubbing off and disappears after a few weeks of use. They claim it's because they wanted to use non-toxic paint, but the...

4.0 out of 5 stars + BPA-free; + noiseless, flat handles; - some trouble to wash, May 21, 2009

This review is from: Born Free BornFree 2 Pacifiers 6 months BPA FREE - girl colors (Baby Product)
We've tried a variety of pacifiers with our now-10-month-old (exclusively breastfed) daughter and have settled on the Born Free binkys. The upsides are that they're BPA-free (important for something in her mouth eighteen hours a day) and have no rattling handles to make noise when you're trying to get your baby to sleep. I also like the way it fits her face, or rather, doesn't fit flat to her face. The way she sucks on it and the shape of her face means that the sides of the binky don't come into much contact with her cheeks. I think this is one reason she doesn't get teething rashes around her mouth.

As another reviewer mentioned, I've also noticed that the Born Free logo wears off, but for me, that's a good thing as it's a little annoying to see constantly see a brand logo in the middle of my baby's face. (I find myself scratching more of it off with a fingernail during downtimes.) It's also true that they don't come with a case, but I prefer to wash binkies more often (and use pacifier clips), rather than rely on the false security of cleanliness that cases and holders offer.

The downside, for me (& a previous reviewer), is that it seems like water or saliva somehow gets into the nipple part, which means I boil them frequently and spend some time trying to squeeze the water out as much as possible. I'm never entirely successful and end up boiling them much more often.

Regardless, the orthodontic nipples, BPA-free, and the silent, mostly-flat handles are enough to make these our default binkies.

Not the end of the world, but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting.

My son still doesn't quit get the idea of a pacifier, but this pacifier does great pacifying him! He is able to grab it, bang it around and suck on the edges in a way that keeps him quite entertained.

They claim it's because they wanted to use non-toxic paint, but the effect is that the pacifier looks cheap and used. Finally, during sterilization a very strange phenomenon offers: the pacifier nipple fills with water, which you then have to squeeze out with your fingers. Kind of defeats the purpose of sterilizing. It doesn't seem like Born Free did as much research as they should have before launching this product. Could use quite a bit of improvement.
