I am interested in what this sistah is doin' now if anyone has the 411?

5.0 out of 5 stars The Billie Holliday of rap, July 12, 2004
This review is from: Born Gangstaz (Audio CD)
I know she's still livin', but her career died, so I mourn it.
This was truly a gifted lyricist, that essentially blew away every male rapper, when she dropped. Even though she never got a grammy,or even a platinum plaque, she still has one significant claim to fame. She is the voice on the single greatest rap song ever produced. Def Jef's "Progress of Elimination", is as close to sonic perfection as this genre will ever get. No other big name producer has ever come close. Not Dre, not RZA, not Primo,
not Pete Rock, not Prince Paul, not Jazzy Pha,(and the list goes on).Not only did this unknown female rapper hold her own on this track, SHE RIPPED SH*T!! Most people will think that any decent rapper could have accomplished this, but I truly doubt it. To ride such a brilliant track in this manner, is the equivalent to riding on the back of a great white shark without getting a scratch, for 3 plus minutes(the length of the song). The gangsta image may have been popular at the time, but on a female,it made a talented artist seem like a novelty. It's all good though, even though her career was cut short, she is arguably the greatest female to ever pick up a mike.

5.0 out of 5 stars I know where she's @, August 3, 2008
This review is from: Born Gangstaz (Audio CD)
Speaking as someone who was a teenaged female at the time this album came out, Bo$$ is a voice that was sorely needed then and (IMO) is still sorely needed now.

"Deeper" was the first track of hers i heard and really spoke to me.

She was more recently to be heard on Krayzie Bones "Thug on da line" released a few years back. She is apparently in the process of being signed to Krayzies label "Thugline Records". Her talent needs another well deserved airing and kudos to Krayzie for being the one to do it. You know he has a fetish for thuggish women lol

Also, i felt the backlash against her was BS. She made no secret of her "ungangsterish" past. She even makes a joke of it in her intros and outros "A call from mom" and "a call from dad". If folks could not pick up from that that she was not a "born gangsta" then they were truly dumb. She was never fronting.

And besides, who's to say she didn't go through a bunch of stuff in those three years she was homeless in LA before she got signed?

Bo$$, as a young female rap fan, I salute you!

5.0 out of 5 stars She Was The Truth !, December 13, 2004
This review is from: Born Gangstaz (Audio CD)
Alot of heads forgot about Boss. Ask around and few will mention her name among the best female mc's. They just don't know. This album is a must have to anyone into rap. Her command is without peer no doubt. I'm glad I dug this one out of the archives. This is a CLASSIC to be ranked among the other so called classics. She put the G in gangsta for ladies. I mean think about it, the hardest female around at that time was MC Lyte, And Boss took it to another level . I'll bet anything chicks like Gangsta Boo, Chyna, and Lady of Rage tapped Boss for their influence. She's real pioneer !

5.0 out of 5 stars This [Artist] Can Flow!, July 16, 2002
By
This review is from: Born Gangstaz (Audio Cassette)
I have to agree with all the other reviews of this rapper. She is by far one of the hardest female gangsta' rap artists so far. When I first hear this album, I was blown away. She commands attention and respect and brings her message across loud and clear. If you're looking for CD to pump you up and make you feel hard core, this is THE ONE. When you're finished listening to her flows, you'll feel as powerful as this CD. She came and went with one album, but she definitely left her mark.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1, July 23, 2006
This review is from: Born Gangstaz (Audio CD)
I love this CD over the years I have probably bought this thing 20 times ( no joke ). I don't know what that 1st reviewer is talkin about but Lil Kim can't come close to BOSS. The best femal lyricist hands down. If you don't have it buy it now. You won't be disappointed. The beats on this CD were awsome back then and I still rock this cd in my car now in 2006. It'll make you wanna drive fast and shoot somebody though. Just kidding. "Progress of Elimination" is one of my all time favorite songs ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still #1....., March 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Born Gangstaz (Audio CD)
Okay, this album may be coming up on it's 10th anniversary but it is still by far THE BEST "Gangsta Rap" to come from a female. Granted, it is not for the faint of heart, Boss does not hold back...it is raw, pure emotion. A true "shout out" for all of us repressed females!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The hardest female rapper to touch a mic ever!, May 23, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Born Gangstaz (Audio CD)
Boss is the hardest female rapper to touch a mic ever. This CD is definitely a classic worth having in your collection. From what I understand she did no another CD but the songs weren't has good as this CD. No other female rapper today can touch Boss. The only one I think who could come close to her is Lil Kim. This CD is a must. ...
