Born To Lead, December 29, 2006
This review is from: Born to Lead (Hardcover)
Wow! If you want a new way to look at yourself, competition, relationships, passion, and pleasure this is the book. At first it was strange to have a man speak the words that opened my heart, reached into my soul, and gave me the inspiration to truly trust my own voice but he did. The book gave me a guide to complete the past, not fix it but just be complete with it. Born To Lead gave me the way to open to my own greatness, my own magnificence that I had not seen or had permission for. The book champions the way women think, operate and work in the world together. I truly recommend this book for everyone, especially men who love women and want to understand how they think, thrive and work and who truly want to hear what a woman is saying.

A True Keeper, December 22, 2006
This review is from: Born to Lead (Hardcover)
Bill Lamond''s new book is what I call a "keeper" -- a book to keep really close to me in my life, so that I can to pick it up and read often for enjoyment, hope, encouragement, understanding, and inspiration.
Bill Lamond examines core concepts special and unique to womens' leadership. He invites me to look at how I (along with so many other women) am trained to think about myself, as a woman and "second-class citizen" in our culture. Now, it's true, sometimes, I am on top of this conditioning, and not buying into it. But, immersed in the cultural milieu, it's hard for me at times to reject the constant "anti-women-as-leader" conditioning that's out there.
Born to Lead provides a stimulating antidote to this. BIll Lamond gives us four keys (Full Capacity, Voice, Truth, and Stance) in a revolutionary new paradigm of thinking about ourselves as women. Then, he delivers even more by defining true women leaders. The power of possibility, he says, lies in expanding our natural genius to create a personal strategy that produces extraordinary results. He emphasizes valuable qualities most women have been encouraged to develop, such as cooperation, nurturance, grace under pressure, and the ability to focus globally on many things at once. A woman leader's goals are not just leadership in the "male" sense of the word, but an outcome of living a life in which she fully expresses her voice with individuality, power, and joy.
While not a lightweight book, (robust and profound are words that come to my mind), Bill Lamond does entertain and uplift with copious stories from his years of experience in coaching powerful women. I appreciate the helpful exercises scattered throughout the book. I'm inspired not only for myself, but optimistic for the greater expression of women on all levels, and for the possibilities for a better world.
I will definitely be telling my friends to "run, don't walk", to go buy their copy of this book!
