The long awaited, years in the making definitive tribute to the Punk Rock Legend has finally arrived! This 3CD Boxed Set features 51 songs and a 36 page full color booklet with complete band listings, rare photographs and liner notes from those who knew and played with Johnny. Guest stars include RICHIE CANNATA(sax player from BILLY JOEL), STEVE HOLLEY(drummer from WINGS), BUDDY BOWZER(original sax player from THE NEW YORK DOLLS), ANDY SHERNOFF(bass player from THE DICTATORS)and JEFF MAGNUM(bass player from THE DEAD BOYS). Buckle up, the cd takes off with the opening chords of Personality Crisis and doesn't let up until the final "Godzilla" guitar roar at the end of Too Much Junkie Business. It shows the greatness of Thunders and collaborators David Johansen and Walter Lure's song writing.The songs are mostly punk rock played by New Yok City Lower East Side bands from the last 16 years to today but Columbus,Ohio, Toronto, Connecticut, Kentucky and Boston are represented.There are also a few surprises(a string quartet!)and many a guest star if you read the extensive liner notes. This Boxed Set is a must for anyone who is a fan of Thunders or The Dolls. It will also please almost anyone else who has a pulse.
