3.0 out of 5 stars Great song, "Unplugged-like" remix pretty good.
Born To Make You Happy was one of the standout songs for me and I was glad to see a single and remix for the song. The song is a somber love song about missing someone and believing that he is the only one whom she will ever love, I would say it was the equivalent to "Everytime" from "In The Zone" but on a different level of maturity. The "Bonus Remix" is a...

If you're interested in buying one of the Born To Make You Happy CDs, then this is the one! The tracks on this CD include... 1) Born To Make You Happy 2) Born To Make You Happy (bonus remix) 3) (You Drive Me) Crazy - Jazzy Jim's HipHop Mix 4) Baby One More Time answering machine message The other Born To Make You Happy CDs either have the first two or first three tracks of this CD. The remix of Born To Make You Happy is not like a remix. To me, it's like a whole different version of the song; they brought Born To Make You Happy to a whole new level with this "remix". The remix is the most awesome remix I've ever heard! Jazzy Jim's HipHop Mix of Crazy is also a great remix. It's actually a remix of "(You Drive Me) Crazy (the stop remix!)" but besides the point, it's a great song! It's a little longer than the other Crazy remixes because it starts off with the chorus of the song and then it's all regular and in order after that. This is a definite 'must have' for any Britney fan! It's one of my favorite Britney CDs and I own them all. By the way, the cover of the CD rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Born To Make You Happy, May 14, 2000

I personally think this is Britney's best single. "Born to Make You Happy" is one of my favorite songs off of her debut album "...Baby One More Time". Here is my review of the tracks on the single.

1. Born To Make You Happy (Radio Edit) - Very nice vocal work on this song. Not much different from the album version, except for the fact it is shorter.

2. Born To Make You Happy (Bonus Remix) - This is an excellent, excellent remix. It was actually resung with a slightly different tune and a pretty guitar background.

3. (You Drive Me) Crazy (Jazzy Jim's Hip-Hop Mix) - This is a funky remix that you would hear playing at a party. It is actually a remix of the Stop Remix, and includes the "STOP" in the middle of the song.

4. Baby One More Time (Answering Machine Message) - In my personal opinion, this is a little bit stupid, but if you're a die-hard fan I guess it's great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Born To Make You Happy - a lovely ballad with great lyrics!, December 7, 2002

1999 was quite a year for Britney Spears. Her debut album had now sold 20 million copies worldwide (13 million in America alone!) and spawned 3 massive worldwide No.1 singles in the form of Baby One More Time, Sometimes and (You Drive Me) Crazy. She also cleaned up at the MTV Europe Video Music Awards in November 1999 after winning all 4 awards for which she was nominated - not mention giving a stunning performance in a slinky black catsuit. Britney celebrated the new millenium by releasing the fourth and final single from her debut album - the song was Born To Make You Happy and became Britney's second UK No.1 single, a brilliant way to close a classic album.

Born To Make You Happy begins with a mid-tempo bassline with a beautiful and moody beat. Britney begins singing the first verse with the lyrics, "I'm sitting her alone up in my room and thinking 'bout the times that we've been through," it's evident it's one of Britney's greatest lyrical compositions to date. The chorus has a very worldly feel to it and Britney pours all her emotion into it - you can tell by the way she hits some of those notes. I think Britney's voice sounds best on her ballads - it isn't altered or changed in any way. It's just Britney's raw and exposed vocals accompanied by the beauty of the song. Born To Make You Happy only received a European release, not a US one. Amercia got From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart, an equally beautiful ballad from Britney's debut album. The video to Born To Make You Happy is very good, but probably the worst from all the ones from her debut album. It begins with Britney sat on some steps in a modern construction with a blue background wearing a sexy silver outfit. There's something about this look that suits Britney - it's very futuristic. I think it's that dark make-up! In other scenes, Britney dances around on a brown platform in a PVC red top and a split black dress with her dancers. The reason I rated this CD 5 stars is not because of the song itself - there's a brilliant remix of (You Drive Me) Crazy and a sort of accoustic version of Born To Make You Happy that makes this essential for Britney fans everywhere - plus the CD cover's good to look at! 5.0 out of 5 stars a good buy, January 19, 2000

I own the 4 Britney Spears singles and this one is my second favorite. The ones I own are "...Baby One more Time", "Sometimes", "Crazy", and now "Born To Make You Happy. My personal favorite is sometimes because it has a cool remix and a new song called "I'm So Curious". On "Born To make you happy", ther is a radio edit of the song wich cuts out the long music brake, an awsome remix wich had to be resung by Britney becaus they change the tune a little bit and it sounds real, a crazy remix thats alright, and an answering machine message.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, January 11, 2000

This is an excellent single. The radio edit of Born To Make You Happy is essentially the same as the album version. The real treat here is the Bonus Remix of Born To Make You Happy. It's an edgier, somewhat more guitar driven version with some re-recorded vocals. As with the hip-hop mix of (You Drive Me) Crazy included on this cd, it seems to be a nod towards the direction Britney wants to go with the next album. It's funkier, less pop territory that could establish her as a more permanent fixture in the music business.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of the "Baby" US album!, October 21, 2001
This review is from: Born to Make You Happy / Crazy / Baby (Audio CD)
This is NOT a US Single, but it's the best track off US album (Not the import)
RATINGS OUT OF FIVE STARS:

1. Album Version (5 Stars) The dance track that became a huge hit. The song is so good and deserved to be released everywhere, not just in the Netherlands (or wherever it was made)

2. Bonus Remix (5 Stars) Nothing can hold a candle to this remix. Enough said.

3. Jazzy Jim Hip Hop Mix of Crazy (5 Stars) A remix of the STOP! Remix. It's pretty well done, and it has no hip hop (No, Britney doesn't rap...) It has hip hop influences.

4. Answering Machine Message (5 Stars) VERY CUTE! They play a verse of "Baby" and Britney starts speaking. Funny and cute, a real collector item!!

So it's not the best Britney single out there, but a good one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Song, September 22, 2005
This review is from: Born to Make You Happy / Crazy / Baby (Audio CD)
Britney Spears didn't release this song in the USA however it made a huge impact in the UK reaching #1. This is in my opinion her best song and shows true talent. I admit that for some of her career she hasn't had the best publicity and some of her songs haven't been quite up to an acceptable standard, however with this song she redeems herself and has crafted what I see as a great song. The piano is superbly played and the song is written superbly well, this song is well worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT SINGLE!, October 9, 2000
By
Joshua Finkelstein (Perth, Western Australia Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Born to Make You Happy / Crazy / Baby (Audio CD)
1. Born To Make You Happy (Radio Edit) (3:35) - The same as the album version but shorter. This is my favourite Britney Spears song. It's got pop, blues, soul... It's really great. Despite the melancholic minor key (which adds to the song), it's a great pop song that is perfect for dancing.

2. Born To Make You Happy (Bonus Remix) (3:40) - You may hear reports that this was resung and the tune's completely different etc... BE CAREFUL! Yes, it was resung and that's really cool but the tune isn't different. The only difference is one line in the chorus is dropped and the 'y' in 'happy' becomes 'yyyyyyyyyy'. It may sound dumb but it is a really nice remix with the soft strumming of a guitar in the backgroud. Don't expect a completely revamped 'Born To Make You Happy' but a very good remix of it.

3. Crazy (Jazzy Jim's Hip-Hop Remix) (3:40) - This is the best remix of Crazy ever. It's still got the pop and rock of the original version but hip-hop is definietly the biggest influence. It really is an AMAZING remix.

4. ...Baby One More Time (Answering Machine Message) (0:21) - Similar to 'Sometimes (Answering Machine Message)' on the Aussie version of '...Broken Heart' single. It starts with the beginning bar of '...Baby One More Time' and then the volume goes down and Britney starts talking as the instrumental plays in the background. She says something like: 'Hi, this is Britney Spears. Sometimes, my friend can't come to the phone,so leave a message after the beep and baby, they'll call you back... One more time' and then you hear her sing 'HIT ME BABY ONE MORE TIME' and it finishes. It's a cool little extra. If you'd buy this single if it only had the 1st 3 tracks then get it but if you're buying it for this, don't bother.
