5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fabulous Classic Nora Roberts!
As a relatively new fan of Nora Roberts, I have made it a mission of mine to acquire all of her classic novels, the ones written before I discovered this amazing author about five years ago. I have enjoyed every story I have managed to get my hands on, but the two tales in "Born O'Hurley" really stand out for me. The O'Hurley family consists of two entertainer parents...

1.0 out of 5 stars A complete mockery and repitition
if you've read old nora robert book's then you know what i'm talking about, it's not just this book, but all her books together, they have the same ultimate plot. it's basically like this; Either the hero or heroine know each other or they are introduced, then they act like they aren't attracted to each other, then the guy does something to make the gal go to bed with...

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Fabulous Classic Nora Roberts!, August 15, 2004
By
As a relatively new fan of Nora Roberts, I have made it a mission of mine to acquire all of her classic novels, the ones written before I discovered this amazing author about five years ago. I have enjoyed every story I have managed to get my hands on, but the two tales in "Born O'Hurley" really stand out for me. The O'Hurley family consists of two entertainer parents who live their life on the road, an older brother, and fraternal triplets Chantel, Abby, and Maddy. Nora has created a wonderfully complex, vital, and compelling family in the O'Hurleys, and they had me hooked from the very first page!

The first of the O'Hurley triplets to have her story told is Abby, the quiet but strong middle (by just a few minutes) sister. After a difficult and unhappy first marriage to well-known racecar driver Charles Rockwell, Abby has been left a widow struggling to raise her two sons on a small farm in Virginia.

But the steady routine of her life is irrevocably changed when author Dylan Crosby comes into her life to write the biography of her deceased husband.

Dylan soon finds he is far more interested in the lovely Abby than in the job he came to do, and he becomes determined to discover who she truly is. Because if Abby really is the honest, kind, and determined woman she seems to be, she is everything Dylan has ever dreamed of but never hoped to find.

Roberts has written a wonderful tale here, filled with powerful emotions, captivating romance, and engaging characters. "The Last Honest Woman" is truly a Nora Roberts gem.

The second half of "Born O'Hurley" delves into the life of the youngest triplet, Maddy O'Hurley. Maddy is an incredibly vibrant and open young woman, and she is a character you can't help but love. After leaving her role as the lead of a Broadway hit, Maddy has taken on a new and challenging role in another musical.

And when Maddy meets the financial backer of the production, Reed Valentine of Valentine Records, she finds herself drawn to him. Reed and Maddy are polar opposites in almost every way. He's conservative and completely focused on business, she's full of life and colour and wears her emotions on the surface for the world to see.

And though Reed finds himself irresistibly attracted to Maddy, he has a troubled past and issues with trust that stem from his childhood. So while Maddy has fallen head over heels in love with Reed, she realizes that he may never be able to overcome his past and give her what she needs, his heart.

Both the effervescent Maddy and the reserved Reed will pull at your heart and you will feel for each of them as they struggle to find a way to each other. Infused with sizzling romance, energetic dance sequences, and the family unity and dynamics that Nora is such a master of "Dance to the Piper" is a triumph.

"Born O'Hurley" comes with my top recommendation so if you've never read the stories of Abby and Maddy, buy this delightful omnibus today. I've also had the chance to read the other two O'Hurley novels; Chantel's tale in "Skin Deep" and the prodigal brother Trace's story in "Without a Trace" and they are equally wonderful. Look for them to be re-printed in "O'Hurley's Return" in February 2005.

I promise that you will love this incredible family as much as I do, so don't miss out on getting to know them!

4.0 out of 5 stars Oldie But Goodie, October 20, 2006
This book contains the first 2 out of 4 stories about the dynamic O'Hurley family.

In the first book, Last Honest Woman, we meet Abby the middle triplet. She is a widow of many years raising two sons on a struggling horse farm. She has consented to let writer Dylan Crosby stay on her farm and write her deceased husbands biography in order to make some money. First Dylan has to decipher whats fact and whats fiction. A good start to the series.

In the second story, Dance To The Piper, we meet the youngest triplet, Maddy. She is a broadway star who is falling for her shows money man, Reed Valentine. These two couldn't be more opposite but you will be rooting for them all the way.

You will fall in love with the O'Hurley's and look forward to the next book that contains oldest triplet Chantel and big brother Trace's stories. This is old Nora, but a great read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nora Roberts - 12 years ago is still good!!, February 20, 2005
This is actually a re-issue of the first two books about the O'Hurley triplets and their brother. Since I did not read the originals it was all new to me. I read "O'Hurleys Return" first and had to go back and buy this one. It was WELL worth it. I loved Abby's story as I am a mom of 6 and often would wonder when the kids were young what I would do if something happened to my husband who used to travel quite frequently. Abby shows amazing courage and drive. She is goal oriented. The book does not show her as a perfect mom which I also liked. Without giving away the story I will say that I felt for her situation of trying to keep personal things private and protect her kids but at the same time allowing her deceased husband's biographer to tell a more complete story.

I also enjoyed so much the second story about Maddy and her life as a dancer, singer and actress in theatre in New York. Her Bohemian life style and fun loving spirit were great and the romance written was very believable. I enjoyed the development of Reed Valentine as well.

The O'Hurleys are a fun family and maybe like her MacGregor series Ms. Roberts will considered a new generation to write about?

4.0 out of 5 stars another reprint 2 for 1, December 23, 2004

Nora fans, check your shelves before purchase, this is another twe-fer that Nora's ex-publishers have repackaged together. Fortunately, it's two titles that are tough to find (especially in the used bookstores) and that are family sagas and are good reads.. it's vintage Nora. I love Maddy, and really liked seeing the family again in the Stanislaski story "Waiting for Nick". Grab this one up, and wait for another one.

I like getting two books in one. That way I don't loose the thread of the story before I get to the next book. I have been a fan of Nora Roberts for many years and find her multi-book series to be most enjoyable.

nora has written two more great books. Where does she get her ideas? The tripleta are as awesome as they can be. In the second book, brother Trace gets into the act. What a family.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it!, August 14, 2006

In the book "The Last Honest Woman" we meet Abby, the middle triplet, who has had a rough marriage, and is now ready to talk about it. She agrees to be intreviewed on a book being written on her ex-husband who was killed in a race car accident. She opens her home, and the story of her life to sexy, hot Dylan Crosby. Abby is surprised when she starts feeling attracted to him because even though she agreed to tell Dylan Crosby about her rough marriage doesn't mean she's willing to tell the whole truth. As Dylan pushes Abby to tell him her darkest secret she starts to fall in love with him, and Dylan realizes he wont be able to type up the whole truth about Abby's life, for the reasons that he loves her, and can't bare to hurt her sons. This book was amazing, I loved how Nora kept you guessing as to what was Abby's secret, and why she didn't want anyone to find it out.

In the book "Dance to the Piper" we meet Maddy the youngest tripplet, whose is at the top of her career, about to star in a big, hit Broadway production thats being backed by Valentine records, Reed Valentine. Throughout the book, Maddy and Reed develop a relationship, that Reed doesn't want to be any part of. As Maddy falls in love with Reed, Reed has a difficult time believing that love is a real thing. As Maddy stuggles to be patient with Reed, and wonders why he doesn't believe in love, Reed tries to distant himself, not wanting to trust her. The problem with Reed is that he can't trust women after the betrayal he faced as a young kid. The story keeps you captivated and wondering what happen to Reed as a child, that he cant trust women. It also keep you guessing if Reed is ever going to realize he is in love and just accept it, or ruin everything between him and Maddy by pushing her away.

I definitely recomend you read these books, I thought they were great stories and I cant wait to read the other two, because throughout these books Nora dropped hints that Chantel had being recieving creepy calls, and I'm wondering what is going to happen in the third book. Hope you enjoy reading them.
