I felt really fortunate to have purchased this CD. I remember watching the movie when I was a little girl, how much even then I loved the music. Only as an adult did I know that John Barry composed so much of the movie music I love. If he composes it, is a safe bet it will be wonderful, inspiring music.

Perhaps one of John Barry's best known compositions, Born Free soundtrack best describes the movie and its setting in Africa very well. The music is very moving, and evokes all emotions from the playful to the tearful. I was pleased to find this original recording on CD after years of searching. The recording quality is very good and surpasses the LP.

I've been waiting for several years for this soundtrack to come back in circulation on cd format. Just wish it hadn't taken the death of the great John Barry for them to do it. I ordered this today and I can't wait to get it. This has got to be one of the greatest soundtracks ever written. The main theme as originally composed sounds ten times better than the saccharine sweet arrangements I grew up listening to on the radio. I had this on vinyl when I was growing up. My favorite tracks were the MAIN TITLE, THE HUNT, KILLING AT KIYUNGA, FLIRTATION, FIGHT OF THE LIONESS with that stratospheric French horn part that sounds almost like a woman singing. and the Finale'. This is great stuff here. Worth having.
