Hauntingly Romantic,
This review is from: Born to Be Sold & Sandcastles (DVD)
First released in 1972 as a made for TV movie, I have remembered it all these years later and longed to see it again. I searched and seached for it and finally found it on a DVD including another movie called Born To Be Sold. I had ordered this twice and waited 2 months both times and never received it. I finally got a copy of it and it's still as excellent as I remember it being all those years ago. Just the mood and feel of this movie with it's classical music and the oceam waves as it's background left a lasting impression in my heart. This movie is well worth seeing if you're looking for a good romance with a twist. Get out the tissues because you'll be needing them before the movie ends. It reminds me alot of Ghost and it's very possible that that's where the idea for it came from. What else can I say about this movie ? I love it... always have, always will...and if you're lucky enough to get a copy of it I'm sure you will, too.

A must-see for fans of Bonnie Bedelia & Jan-Michael Vincent,
By A Customer
When I first saw this movie I was 15 years old; I'm now 41 and I remember this love story as if I'd seen it only yesterday. Not only does it have Jan-Michael Vincent as the young hitchhiker who is killed in an accident and whose spirit and being stay here to help his friend, but the young woman he falls in love with is a young and beautiful Bonnie Bedelia (from other films such as Needful Things, Violets Are Blue). The two share a powerful love and build sandcastles on a beach. I've searched for this film for 20 years and believe me, it's worth the wait. To me, this movie is one of the best love stories I've seen and it shows the two stars when they young and to me, ALMOST at their best!! It is a must-see for anyone who cares for either of these two stars.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
A friend and I were discussing old 70's films and I showed her Tribes (starring Jan-Michael Vincent) and she asked if I'd seen Sandcastles (indeed, I had). She was the first person I had ever met that had seen it. We both have been looking for it for years! I haven't seen it again since the first time. But I ordered it, and can't wait for it to arrive! We both remember it as being a very sweet and touching film. Jan-Michael Vincent wasn't too bad to look at either.

A wondeful love story and ghost story together,
By A Customer
I've been looking for this film for a long time. It is a beautiful story about a young man who returns from death to help a friend. He meets a girl, and they fall in love. One of things they like to do together is build sandcastles, a symbolic representation of something beatiful that doesn't last in this world. This is a wonderful movie, and it's a shame that, like so many other early 70's fantasy movies, it fell along the wayside. I highly recommend that folks give it a try.

I saw this movie when I was a child and have never forgotten it. All through the years I have told people about it and hoped to be able to buy it one day. So far no luck.....
