Grammy Award get ready for Stephanie Mills who shines throughout this new "Born For This!" classic!!! One of the greatest singers ever, I treasure and savor each release from this incredible singer but it has been far too many years for a classic like Stephanie to be not in the recording studio making great music for us all to enjoy. MCA's "Something Real" is a truly awesome classic and "Stephanie Mills Christmas" is one of the greatest holiday recordings ever but both of these magnificent works are ten plus years ago but should not be missed by anyone who enjoys a great singer in peak form. "Born For This!" is prime Stephanie as she inhabits each song with all the passion and vocal greatness that is her trademark...ballads smolder with passionate intensity and funky jams like "Free" & "For U" have a current contemporary feel that should take Stephanie to the top of the charts where she belongs!!! "You Still Mean So Much" is completely gorgeous with just Stephanie and piano creating a warm classic while "Something In The Way (He Makes Me Feel)" is a great reworking of a Stephanie classic from the past...a powerfully emotional yet fine vocal makes "Baby Love" a very special treat but the grand slam Diva number is saved for last and "Born For This!" is a vocal masterpiece!! Follow the lyrics of this classic while Stephanie gets inside of them and turns them inside out while giving the listener the ride of a lifetime on a great voice...this is the ultimate emotional and vocal tour-de-force...thank you Stephanie Mills and please don't wait so long for the next!!!

A classic "soul diva" has returned to us. I found Stephanie Mills' new CD by accident and thought I was seeing things wrong. She sounds and looks great. I remember hearing her voice back around 1978 and have stood by her through the ups and downs this business can envelope. Move over Jill, Angie, and Anita...she's back. Great to have you "Home" where you belong Steph! God Bless!

Superb from beginning to end. It is my prayer that this wonderful addition to soulful music will receive the airplay and accolades it deserves.

I am so happy to hear some new material from Steph. She is, by far, one of our best "real" singers of our time. Technology had taken over the industry. But thank God for singers like Steph, Aretha, Mariah, and Whitney, who can really work without the extra help.
I was wishing for something more from Steph on this cd, but after being out of the game for such a long period of time, I think this is really a nice effort to re-introduce herself to the music world.
I have followed her from album, to cassette, and on to cd. She is a trooper. And I am so proud to be a fan.

Stephanie Mills has comeback stronger than ever. Her new cd "Born For This" is a perfect 10. Every song is hot fresh with update beats and that voice is still there. I'm finally glad that I can add another cd of new music from one of My Favorite D'vas to my collection. (I think I have about 18 cd's by Stephanie :o) Some highlights of the cd are as follows:

The Ballads:

1. You Still Mean So Much is a beautiful ballad. 5 Stars
2. Baby Love has an acrobatic vocal power. She sing her butt off on this tune. 5 Stars.
3. Born For This is another vocal acrobatic beautiful song. 5 Stars
4. Can't Let Him Go is another good ballad. 5 Stars
5. Healing Time is so beautiful. The title alone lets you know whats in store. Definitely another single here. 5 stars

The Beats:

1. Something In The Way. Yes she did her own song over again and it is up to date and hot. Definitely 5 Stars
2. Never Knew Love should definitely be a hot single with some upto date beats. If I have go out and promote it myself I Will. 5 Stars
3. Love of my life is another feel good song with good lyrics and beats. 4 Stars
4. Free is nice and radio friendly. 4 Stars
5. For You is FABULOUS. I love this song a whole lot. I can hear this on the radio as well. Definitely a hot one here. 5 Stars.

Please pick it up. This brand new release. I'm sure you will enjoy it as I do.

Let Me Start by saying that It feels good to see the original ladies of soul back in effect..(Teena Marie, Patti Labelle & now Ms.Stephanie Mills!) I have listened to Teena Marie & Patti Labelle's projects, theirs were somewhat spotty if not down right boring (Ms.Patti Labelle's project) Now flash to the present. Stephanie Mills cd Is nice from beginning to the end. If you want a nice cd drenched with soulful melodies and vocals... This is your cd..

I am so damn happy that our REAL DIVAS are back. First, Patti Labelle then Teena Marie with OUTSTANDING albums, and now, Ms Stephanie Mills new album is just TERRIFIC. Patti got praised for Timeless Journey, Teena Marie (they talking Grammy for her album)for La Dona. I look forward to the praises for the worthy and deserving Ms Stephanie Mills, now and in the future. I am glad you are back from a long hiatus. Well worth the wait!

I was so happy to hear that Stephanie Mills returned with this album, on her own terms. She sounds so good on these songs. Most of the album consists of ballads, with a few funky numbers in the middle. Producers like Eddie Lighty and the pair of producers she called the Mtume and Lucas of 2004 gave her some very nice songs. Even the songs that Stephanie wrote are personal and well stated. Not since her '80, '87, '89 and '92 albums have I've been impressed with her singing and music. She is truly born for this!

It's been a long time since Stephanie has made a new release.
Born For This is one of her greatest accomplishments in her entire musical career. Many of the songs are exceptionally beautiful. My personal favorite is the track, Born For This. It simply is the best song she has ever produced. The remake of Something In The Way You Make Me Feel is awesome and much better that the original cut. This CD is well worth buying. If you haven't bought it,get it! You'll be pleased.
