5.0 out of 5 stars Like Reading A Jazz Lovers' Personal Diary, December 1, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book was a pleasure to read. It's written in a very informal style, by a woman who was a lifelong fan of jazz music. It's amazing how many of the great names crossed her path and visited her home. After finishing the book I Googled the author and was saddened to learn she died a few years ago. She was obviously an amazing person, who was able to connect with these musicians on a human level and maintain lasting friendships with many of them. The audio CD included with the book is an interesting aural peak into the late night jam sessions often described in the book. There weren't many tracks featuring the more well know jazz artists. I'm assuming that probably due to copyright issues and such, but it's a fun listen anyway and nice compliment to the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like becoming a Jazz writer's best friend., July 30, 2010
I loved every second of this book. Stories of real adventure and kind people along with the shake up of jazz. It couldn't have been written any better and is a a read that will inspire you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Need more complete product information, July 28, 2010
I have not ordered this product yet but I am anxious to purchase it. All the product sellers MUST inform the buyers about whether or not their product INCLUDES THE CD with the book. The CD has some very rare interviews and performances- including the only known recording of Kenny Dorham playing and singing "Fair Weather". That's the main reason I am purchasing this product and I don't want to purchase the book without the CD. Marianne
