These boots are absolutely gorgeous - the color, the design, the worksmanship are all beautiful. Unfortunately, Amazon did not specify that these were "wide calf" or even publish a shaft diameter - if I had seen that these were wide, I never would have purchased them (my calves are around 14.5"). They would have been perfect if there had not been a massive 2+ inch space between my leg and the top of the boot. Sadly, I had to return these.

Amazon: please be sure to post dimensions or helpful notes about the features of the products to help avoid returns like this!

I am a pretty true size 7.5, with somewhat wide feet and somewhat high arches. I do find that Born boots (including this pair) tend to run a little long in the toe, but on the other hand, whenever I've sized down to a 7, they end up a little too tight in the width and nearly impossible to get on due to the instep. A 7.5 tends to be the perfect compromise, and that was the case with these boots, too.

These are comfortable right out of the box. The shaft fits my 15.5 inch calf perfectly, and I expect another half inch could be gotten easily without it being uncomfortably tight. The shaft is also quite high- I am 5'5 and they hit right below my knee. Before I broke them in and the shaft 'sank' a little due to the ankle getting softer, the back of the shaft touched my thigh when I sat down. That no longer bothers me since the leather softened. The elastic portion is not *super* stretchy, which I personally like but if you have really wide calfs it might not be quite stretchy enough for you, at least at first. The footbed is padded of course, and very flexible. I've worn these for miles of walking so far and they are warm and look great! They are NOT waterproof unless it's only a drizzle outside or a quick dash across the street.

I love these boots and would definitely recommend them!

Ordered these boots with high expectations, because Born has proven to be such a good purchase for me in the past (3 pairs, all could be worn day in day out, wore very well as far as maintaining shape, heel, etc.; look great; EXTREMELY comfortable. This pair seemed slightly more snug than I was expecting, but within a few minutes, the leather started to give. In particular, I have a high arch, and it felt slightly taut in that part of the boot, so be forewarned if you have high arches, this may not be the perfect purchase for you, because it is a stiffer leather, versus a more pliable leather like suede.* This is not a complaint, merely a style observation. Also, I do not think every maker is ideal for every type of foot, I simply feel lucky to have found a maker that fits my own particular foot exceptionally well.
Style-wise, I love the look of knee-high boots, because I work in the office, but prefer to hustle, so these boots allow me to hustle while wearing a dress or skirt. Any kind of loafer I always felt like they did not offer enough structural support, so the alternative is to wear ugly flats, or lace up shoes, like indoor sneakers. These boots are the ideal solution for me, and in air-conditioned offices, they are perfect in the summer-time as well!
All in all, it was another good shoe-purchase day for me. I'm a very content consumer right now.
*It's been about a month, and these boots are soft, and grow more comfortable every day. No concerns about a high-arch from me. Love these boots.

Calf was just a little too small. Didn't zip very well. The boot was comfortable though and appeared be be well-made.

I wear a 7.5 in Born, and it's pretty consistent across their shoe and boots. But I bought these and the foot was just way too small. I could barely get my foot in there. And, the shaft was way too big around my calf. Sadly, I had to return them. The leather was really nice, and I imagine the boot looks great with jeans or dressed up with a skirt.

These are fabulous. So comfortable. The heel is just high enough to make them look chic without raising the angle of your foot to an uncomfortable angle. They look nice with a dress or jeans. They fit very well with hose, and you can also tuck pants into them easily. I got my usual size 8 and it is just a little bit big but not a problem. They are very well made, I expect them to last a long time. I have been wearing them in the snowy, wet weather and they are holding up great, just wipe them off.

These are the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. I have bad feet (extreme plantar fasciitis) and they offer just the right amount of support. I can wear these with skinny jeans or a skirt. Love them!

Of the Born boots I have tried on, these fit very large in the calf and foot, very tall in the calf (it hit my knee in a relatively uncomfortable way,) and the color of the leather seemed dead and left much to be desired. They're going back.

Very disappointed that the calf size was too narrow. Great looking boot with great style and height. Sending them back

The boots were beautiful. I love Born boots. If you have never tried them on you should. They are the MOST comfortable boots. My calves are a little larger than normal and Born allows for that without me having to look for "wide Calf" boots. I have four pairs of Born Boots and love them all!
