This mini-mandoline works very well, but directions warn the user to "always use the safety holder". No safety holder is included and none was offered at time of purchase. On the box is stated, "Safety holder sold separately". Certainly, the safety holder is a necessity unless one wishes to include one's fingertips in the dinner salad. The holder, since it is not included, should have been offered for sale at the same time. It is, of course, available, but the second shipping costs more than the holder. We are not pleased.

Works very well but it will do your fingers just as easily as it does carrots.

This slicer works very well and you DEFINITELY need the protector sold separately. My only complaint is it slices things very, very thin. I also have not had luck with softer items like tomatoes but that just might be my inexperience.
