This grater is very effective. The variety of grates is very useful, however, there isn't really one that we like for grating the cheese for the nachos. There are a few things I don't like about it. It is very sharp, which, of course, is a desirable characteristic. But you must be careful with it. While I was rinsing off the inside of it after its first use, I took a big slice out of my finger. I have since learned to use a long handled brush for this purpose. The "holder" that comes with it is not very convenient to use. It will not hold what you are slicing very effectively. I tried to slice a tomato with the grater and all it did was peel the tomato. It is really a rather large piece of equipment. I had to rearrange my limited cabinet space to find a convenient place to store it. This characteristic I should have anticipated before I purchased it. I just point it out so that you will keep it in mind before you purchase it. All-in-all I will probably save this device for the "big" jobs and go back to using the regular old grater for the nacho cheese.

I am in love. It is awesome. Fast, easy, sharp as hell. Clean up is not super easy because it is sharp and square shaped. But it is a handy, well made tool.

Why get out all the appliances when this grater can do it all? Especially if you are cooking for one. I can slice/grate a carrot, zucchini, celery, onion and grate a hard cheese faster than you can read it. Soup is done before I can get out, set up, and clean a Food Processor. Much better than a knife. The catch bowl is large (4C) and holds everything in my soup.
Combi-Chef is large and heavy. Handle is wood, and comfortable. Does not bend. Sits square on the counter and the feet don't let it move around. Clean up is easy.
Top Tip: Use the safety holder because you get going so fast you'll cut yourself
Summary: Don't waste your money on the thinner, cheaper models.

Although a little pricy, by far the best manual slicer/shredder I have ever seen or used.
