The sander arrived this morning. I was sanding a plywood floor when my old sander died. The 4" Bosch is very heavy, but the weight comes in handy. I completed a 12 X 20 floor in thirty minutes this morning. I liked that I did not have to push down on this sander to make it work. I also liked that the wide footprint keeps the sander from biting groves when you change direction.

When I ordered this sander, I was looking for a belt sander that has an option of a sanding frame. Both Dewalt and Bosch offer a sanding frame. I did not like the reviews on the Dewalt because I was reminded of electronic problems. I have been through that issue with Dewalt routers and it was not a pleasant experience. The wide belt also swayed me over to Bosch. So far, I am very happy with this sander. I will update if something goes wrong.

If you need a 4" belt sander, and you can get this one for under $100, just buy it. Plenty of power. If you bear down it will burn the wood. Dust bag works ok. With a vac I see no airborne dust at all. (But I am sure there is some.) Very coarse dust is not all taken in by the vac.

I have been a carpenter for many years and my Matabo 21" belt sander finally gave out after 25 years of major abuse. I wanted a replacement that will work fast. This Belt sander is a beast! If you are looking for a sander that you can easily handle with one arm (especially in a 45 degree or vertical position this is not for you be. However, if you are looking for a belt sander that will cut fast, this beast will do fine. Changing belts is very quick and efficent. I am thinking of making a vertical stand to make this an occasionally vertical/horizontal stationary sander. I still believe Matabo to be the best tools in the world but Bosch isn't far behind. The price was right and I get to develope some forearm strength in my old age. I am giving this a 4-star rating.

I bought this as a factory reconditioned unit at a fair price. It is heavy, not for small people, very strong, does what a belt sander should do. My issue with it is I can't get the belt to stay where it belongs; holding it free of wood and getting the belt just right, then sanding and having the belt begin to slide off the outside edge, adjusting it just a touch to bring it back and the next thing I see is the belt is crinkling itself against the inside edge, essentially impossible to get the belt to stay aligned with the rollers. Damned annoying.

I have owned a Bosch 1273D for 24 years.
I finally wore out the base plate. It cost $13 to replace.
This is an excellent tool.
The newer model, 1276D, is almost identical and the two have many interchangeable parts.

I read the reviews posted on this sander, and they pretty well outlined what to expect. The Bosch 1276D is heavy and powerful. It is a perfect addition to my wood work tools as I have a light weight belt sander for the little jobs. Much more sander than what I need, but perfect for the big jobs, and no worry of hurting it for lack of power. For the price it is better than what I had expected. Don't get hooked into some of the so called rebuilt-refurbished companies that charge more than the new price. Cheaper by far than any of the same models that I looked at on Ebay. If you need a good HEAVY DUTY sander this is the one to pick. Requires some strong arms to use and control it. The exhaust could have been vented the other direction, but I still give it a 5 star. Also five stars to the seller for fast shipping-good price and good communication with a UPS tracking number.

This sander is no longer available from the manufacturer, and is a great machine. I received it in new condition in an unopened factory box.
I am very satisfied.

We used these to finish castings in an aluminum foundry. The sanders work great.

The sander is fine, but as I indicated in multiple attempts to communicate with the elves at Amazon, I resent ordering from someone (Amazon) at a stipulated price that was quoted on the web site and repeated in the confirmation to the order only to find out that the order was filled for a significantly lower price by a firm selling on e-bay with MUCH lower shipping rates than those that were collected from me by Amazon. Don't say it didn't happen because the company that filled the order included its invoice in the box which I verified when I contacted them.

WalMart has gotten some new business since this episode as I resent companies that bait and switch products on their customers. Making it all but impossible to resolve the matter by talking to an English-speaking human only makes the process more objectionable.
