Bosch invented the jig saw, and, with its top-handle models, it's getting close to perfecting it. The 1587AVS has a nicely shaped handle, tapered where other saws are not, and a nice rubber grip that lets users (of all hand sizes) steer the tool firmly in hand. (Some toolmakers ignore ergonomics, but not Bosch--and we appreciate it.) The safety mechanism works well with the trigger, and the cut is super smooth. We like the variable-speed dial, the light weight, and the foot plate's plastic cover, which ensures that surfaces won't get scratched as they can by saws with metal plates. The blade-change system--if a little tricky at first--works great. The Bosch 1587AVS top-handle jig saw features four-position orbital action, which matches the blade stroke to the work piece and cutting task. The top handle with variable-speed trigger provides extra control. The blade-change system allows quick, tool-free blade changes. The adjustable steel footplate tilts left and right and retracts to allow cutting close to vertical surfaces. Includes three blades, anti-splintering insert, and insert kit.

This is the best jigsaw made. Period. This saw has all of the features you could ever look for in a saw. The blade guides provide a very accurate cut, while the orbital action allows you to cut through any wood like butter. The blower keeps your line of vision clear, and changing blades is a snap, a huge improvement over the older Bosch style. The motor has the least vibration of any jigsaw I've ever used. Simply a great saw.....

Bosch has put the power in this saw to cut through any material you might feed it, and the finess to cut dead on accuracy. The quick blade release makes changovers fast and will not losen your blade once its locked in. If your take pride and time in your work, then the Bosch 1587AVS will make it that much easier for you.

I bought this jig saw to use with the Collins Coping Foot that I bought to be able to cope crown moldings quickly. I bought the Coping foot to go with a Chraftsman saw that I have, but upon arrival it was obvious the two would never mate up.
I went and quickly bought the Bosch and am glad I did. I have never had a GOOD jig saw before, and this one is an enormous improvement over those $49 specials I have had in the past.
I also use it as a Tiger saw about half the time, just cause it is at hand. Tiger saw would be cheaper, but it don't cope.
