Precision Control System for Accurate Cuts
The 1590EVSK's Precision Control System provides enhanced blade centering with a user-activated blade stabilizer system that sits even closer to the workpiece than the blade roller guide. The system guides act like the blocks on a bandsaw to provide up to 50-percent more accuracy than other jigsaws, virtually eliminating blade wander, so you get vertically straight cuts. It adjusts to any blade thickness. The adjustable dust blower also helps ensure accuracy by clearing the intended cut line of dust and debris.

Powerful 6.4 Amp Motor for Cutting Tough Material
You can count on the powerful 6.4 Amp motor to get the job done fast. And with four orbital-action settings and speed range of 500 to 2,800 strokes per minute (SPM), the saw can be easily adjusted for optimal performance when cutting a wide range of wood, plastic, mild steel, and stainless steel materials.

Moreover, the 1590EVSK is one of the few professional jigsaws that feature a variable-speed trigger so that you can easily adjust the speed from 500 SPM to the maximum speed that you set using the speed dial. Beyond that, the unit's Constant Response circuitry helps maintain constant speed through the entire cut for consistent cutting even in tough spots in the material.

One-Touch Blade Changes
The 1590EVSK's One-Touch blade change technology allows you to change blades quickly, with one hand. To install a T-Shank blade, simply push the blade into the clamp. To eject the blade, simply pull a lever. You'll spend less time changing blades and more time working, and you'll never again have to touch a hot blade to remove it.

Easy Bevels
Bevel cuts are typically infrequent, but you need to make them, the 1590EVSK makes it easy --- without having to search for a wrench. Simply pull a lever to release the cast aluminum foot and tilt the base to the desired angle, then press the lever to set the angle. The saw also features an easy-to-read scale, so you can make accurate bevel cuts up to 45 degrees. The Bosch 1590EVSK Top Handle Jigsaw is extremely compact at just six pounds. It's backed by a one-year warranty, 30-day money back guarantee, and one-year service protection plan.

I am a carpenter and have tried many different jig saws before i purchased this one. (red, yellow, and gray to name a few) They either cut crooked, lacked power, or scratched the work surface with the bottom shoe.

In my opinion this is the best jig saw for the price. It easily compares to $300 models. I was a little skeptical of the precision control blade system guarnteeing absolute precision but was not disappointed. It's true to the line - every time. The dust blower actually works to keep debris from the cutting path and the removable overshoe protects the workpiece from scratches. It has plenty of power and maintains the speed you set it at. The extra long cord is nice too. Don't always need to get out an extension cord.

As far as the unit getting hot - I have run mine for 1 1/2 hrs almost constantly through hard maple and have never had a problem. This saw has it all!!!

My husband and I are not professionals -- just amateurs who greatly enjoy home improvement projects. I bought the Bosch 1590EVSK as a surprise, to replace our 30-year-old Honeywell. What a wonderful surprise it turned out to be! All the knowledgeable reviews posted here led me to expect a good tool, and I was especially pleased to buy a tool that's made in the U.S.A. The tool has far surpassed our expectations. Some reviewers have noted the tool's weight, and I have found that to be a special advantage -- it feels solid and substantial in the hands, increasing my confidence as I'm cutting, and its solidity and power seem to eliminate the kinds of problems I've had before, as with vibration or wavering spoiling my cuts -- as big as the Bosch is, it handles the most delicate, intricate work with ease and grace. As I've said, we're novices, not pros -- but this fine tool helps us do work that makes it LOOK like we had the pros in! I bought the accessory pack of 30 Bosch replacement blades at the same time -- the blades are of splendid quality. All in all, a wonderful investment, even for amateurs!

I have had this saw for a few weeks now and am very happy with how smooth it cuts everything. I used it to trim off an overhang on a kitchen counter and it made a very smooth cut through both the laminate and particle board underneath. Also, I have used it to make some cut-outs in the plywood for a sub-floor and the cuts are very smooth. The blower works very well so that you can easily follow your cut line.
This saw is rather heavy for a jigsaw but the weight helps to absorb any vibration. The price and weight are both high but if you want a smooth and powerful jigsaw take a look at this one.

I have had a model 1587 and decided to try a new 1590, both do a better job than most jig saws. I went for the new 1590 because of the ease of blade changes and extra blade support. My 1587 cuts and works fine, but the 1590 has just improved blade changes, power and more stable cutting. I would recommend either one,but I would prefer the 1590 over the 1587.
As for the heating up mention by another review,I have had no such problem.

I find the Bosch jig saw very powerful and well balanced. The versatility of the machine equals any on the market as far as I could determine. My biggest issue with a saw of this type is the ease with which you can follow a cut line. This saw helps where skill is lacking. As an example the very low vibration from the machine definetly assists the less skilled and skilled craftsman. To test this feature I turned the saw on and set it on a flat surface in an already cut out section. I then let go of the tool and it just sat there running and not trying to "dance" away. Blade changes are a snap, literally, and really an improvemnet over the old twist the top several times to disengage and engage a blade in the cutter head.

This is the best jigsaw out there. No question in my mind! Absolutely smooth cuts, in birch plywood, white oak, or anything else. No vibration. Easy blade changes and foot angle/bevel changes. Nice, long, soft cord, that doesn't twist your tool around. Be sure to get some Progressor Wood blades from Bosch too - they're amazing, especially when paired with this saw.

Shop around, though, if you want to save some bucks and get this shipped quicker - Coastaltool dot com, for instance...

I got one of these for Christmas and what everyone says about it is true. I had a thirty year old [middle of the line to be fair] Craftsman Jigsaw that could never cut a straight or clean line and vibrated like crazy which left me with the impression that a jigsaw is a tool of last resort. That has now changed with the 1590EVSK and it is now my tool of first resort for most sawing decisions. When I first opened the case to my Bosch I said "lets see what she can do". I put in a Bosch blade [it comes with assortment of three] and got a scrap of 2x4 to crosscut. My old jig saw would have choked on that big time. Well the 1590EVSK zipped right through it - WOW and left a clean cut. Then I drew a wandering line on a piece of 1x6 and put in a fine cut blade and it and I was able to follow that line and cut smoothly like a dream. I am going to put in some Pergo floor soon and was wondering how I was going to rip planks of it. Yes I could use a circular saw but that is a bit scary and requires clamping to do it safely [my wife works with someone that cut their hand pretty bad doing it incorrectly with a circular saw]. Now I plan to use the 1590EVSK with a blade that will do laminate and an edge guide or clamped on guide which can easily be done on site.

The 1590EVSK just oozes quality, durability, and engineering. It is not cheap compared to other jig saws but for what it can do it could easily be the most used saw in the arsenal of a do it your self guy/gal or handyman doing a lot of duty that a circular saw used to do and in a safer manner and therefore be a great investment. Be sure to use Bosch blades in it as they are top notch and worth every penny. Blade changes take about five seconds if you are clumsy.
