I purchased the 1775E to tuckpoint a 100+ year old brick wall in my basement. I did purchase a blade because of one of the reviews on the site said it did not come with one. To my surprise, it did come with a blade, so now I have two. This is quite alright because I am tuckpointing the entire basement of this house. I couldn't be happier with this tool, it does exactly what Bosch said it would do.

When purchased, I wanted to use the 1775E with my 12 gallon 5hp Shop-Vac with the 2½ inch opening... I purchased the VAC020 attachment and it fit perfectly into the hose of the vacuum. To my utter shock there is no airborne dust to speak of when this tool is plugged into the vacuum. I am working in the basement tried to grind with and without the vacuum attachment, the difference is night and day. Without the vacuum attachment, I could grind for moments and was engulfed in dust, with the shopvac engaged there is NO dust whatsoever. Just remember to get a new filter and a nice bag for the vac and you are set.

Enough comments have been made re using the tool for tuckpointing. It excels for that purpose. One could simply buy a shroud (offered by a dozen companies, and all very similar) to stick on their existing grinder, and it would probably work fine too. Standing up and tuckpointing brick or block is fairly straight forward. I figured I'd answer any off questions regarding the hose hookups.

The small end of hose part VAC005 fit perfectly into the dust collection port of the Bosch 1775E Tuckpoint grinder. The large end of the VAC005 was identical in diameter to the hose attachment end (2 1/4 OD) of my 12 gal Shop Vac. I used Ridgid VT2511 ("Hose to Hose Connector") to insert / connect the two ends together. Worked like a charm. (I also reviewed the hose)

Alternatively, I could have simply connected my Shop Vac Hose directly to the grinder with Bosch VAC020 adapter (yes, I tried it, & it fits) if I wanted to avoid spending the extra $ for this hose to save a few bucks, but I prefer to have this smaller diameter hose attached directly to the grinder, rather than the larger, bulkier Shop Vac hose.

Footnote: I considered also using this for removing sanded grout from floor tile (a difficult and demanding job to do well, and which 9/10 tile guys will pass up, with most preferring to simply re-tile), using either a Slayer Turbo diamond wheel for rodding granite (5" x 3/16"), or the Alpha Tools 4.2mm or 5.5mm Hot Rod blades (for 1/4 grout lines. Standard 1/4"+ tuckpointing diamond blades are too thick for 1/4" grout lines).

The optional dust collection hose is a must, because it makes it so darn easy to work with. It definitely came with the blade, and the depth control was key to making this job so much easier. Powerful motor, and nice long cord. Switch is well sealed, since you are working so dusty. It does throw alot of rocks at your face, so get a shield.

I've been using this for about 1 month and I am very satisfied. Not only does this really keep the dust level down, but it also has lots of power for a quick, clean cut. My only complaint is that it is kind of heavy, and it does get tiring to use because of this. But overall, I'm glad I bought this.

I've had a couple of other items based on the same effort. I have a house and carriage house over 160 years old, and a previous owner did a very poor job of trying to patch some problem brick and mortar. Using this tool, along with the others that I got on Amazon, I learned quickly how to make the fixes look professional. Others in the area tell me that they can't tell the difference between my efforts and those professionals they hired at expensive rates. So I'm very pleased with the tools that made it much easier for me to fix an unsightly earlier effort by a previous owner.

Awesome tool! This thing removes mortar like it's not even there. And be careful, because it will remove brick too.

This tool works great but there is a price to pay for the decrease in dust. The guard and dustcollecting port block visibility as you cut. Keep this in mind and work carefully at first to avoid cutting into the bricks. Your patience will be rewarded.

I cut a 3/4-in. deep groove down the center of the (horizontal) bed joints, leaving a thin wafer of mortar on the bricks. Then,I used a hammer and an old screwdriver to knock out the wafer. I found my pointing chisle to be too clunky for this job.

I found that the grinder doesn't work well in the (vertical) head joints because it's easy to grind into the bricks above and below the joints. For the head joints, I used my hammer drill--also a Bosch tool-- and a pointing chisle.

I purchased this for a project I am working on. I needed a good tool to cut a line the concrete floors to bury a cable. This handled the job with ease! I also needed a tool that I could attach a vacuum to it and this did.
Shipping was very fast with my Amazon prime and I got it for over $50 less than anywhere else.
My local Bosch rep did not like it as he could not even give it to me for the price I paid.
Bosch always does a great job and Amazon has never let me down!
