I installed a dry diamond blade for cutting brick - cut like butter with a hot knife. Installed a 4 1/2" diamond tuck point wheel and removed a mortar joint 35" wide in seconds. Highly recommend this tool if your looking for a good grinder. Well worth the money for the safety & power it delivers.
I have owned several grinders, worn out some, some just broke. I can confidently say that this model is right where I need for most every job I have to tackle. It is well worth the money, dont wind up with a junk grinder just to save yourself $20. The more expensive ones are nice, but they dont really do anything this one wont.
From my experience, this one fits perfectly in cost vs. performance equation.
This tool is extremely light wieght and easy to use so I do not feel fatigued like I would by using a heavy tool. I feel almost no vibration at all and have only experienced kick-back when I try to force things (bad me!) instead of letting the machine and the diamond blade make the cut for me. The handle can be attached on either side of the head and it attaches at a 70 degree angle which is VERY comfortable.
This tool is set up in such a way that I feel that I have total control over the cuts I am making. I have not made a single miscut since I started using this tool. I highly recomend it for cutting stone and for use with a diamond blade.
Then, I discovered to replace the grinding wheels, which went pretty fast, I had to order them from the Sears catalog. Other grinding wheels that size wouldn't fit the Sears tool and the one not so local Sears store didn't carry replacement wheels in their hardware department. So much for that; however, I soon discovered that there were a growing number of local and imported companies making this type of grinder and it became very competitive and they all pretty much used a standardized grinding wheel.
I went through every brand out there until I bought my first Bosch. The other grinders worked well while they worked but I seemed to burn one out in a month or two. I had a couple that may have lasted more than a year. When I bought the Bosch I had two or three other grinders in use. As each of them burned out or gearing went south, I would replace it with another Bosch. I use an engraver each time I acquire a tool and besides an I.D. code, I put a Date on it to note when put in service. Currently, I have five Bosch grinders in service of each model they make the oldest date on one in daily use is 1986, 1992, 1999, 2004, 2012.Read more ›
