WOW! What a driver!!!,
By Harris (Huntsville, AL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bosch 23618 Impactor 18-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Impact Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
This is the top of the line impact driver from Bosh and it has worked great! I was able to drive a 3" drywall screws through a 2/4, sheetrock and into the stud without a pilot hole and very little resistance or cam out. I really like the fact that the torque is transferred to the screw and not my wrist and arm! I have gone back and tightened lag screws with no problem...this thing will actually bury the washer in the wood if not too careful!

Bosch Impactor,
This review is from: Bosch 23618 Impactor 18-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Impact Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
This drill has some serious torque. It prevents stripping screw heads
and for its size and weight it outdoes the heavier bulky non impactor cordless drills.

It will sink a three inch screw, through a couple of pressure treated 2x12's, as if you were cutting butter with a knife..... the Best.

I have owned several impactors and used others this is by far the best. Great torque and stamina. I have been happy with bosch 18 volt tools for years and this is the best of the lot. Very good warrantee as well provided you register your tool.

Great tool, but use long bits,

I bought this tool for two reasons. I needed new batteries for my Bosch 18V drill and didn't want to pay the high price for just the batteries. I also wanted (not necessarily needed) an impact driver and buying this tool also got me new batteries to use with the drill.
The Bosch 23628 Impactor does an amazing job at driving long screws and lags into hard, dense wood, although you may break a few more screws with it. You have to ease up a bit when you're getting close to the end or you'll drive the screw deeply below the surface. The tool is much lighter and faster than using a drill-driver, and reduces hand and arm fatigue when you have a lot of long screws to drive. The collet is designed to grip a bit that has a groove on its end. These bits are a little longer than the ones that typically come with a box of screws. I needed to drive some square head screws and only had a short bit without the groove. The Bosch did the job just fine, but when I was done I found that the bit had jammed itself into the collet so badly that I couldn't get it out, no matter what I tried. There was so little of the bit projecting beyond the collet that pliers and Vicegrips just slid off. I got in touch with Bosch customer service and they said they had no tricks to remove the stuck bit. Fortunately, I was within my 30 day Amazon guarantee period and was able to swap it out. Later, someone told me that he had the same problem and was able to grip the end of the bit and remove it with a pair of end cutting pliers, but I haven't personally verified that technique works. I like the Bosch Impactor a lot, but I'm disappointed that there isn't an easier way to remove a stuck bit.

GREAT PRODUCT,

I own this and love it. The only problem you have with it is you better make sure you are lined up with screw before starting the driver. I have driven 3.5 inch drywall scrws thru treated wood makes you say wow. Great product would highly recommend

Great Tool - Makes Work Easy,

This is great addition. I have been using the driver for building and remodeling. It drives through new wood, old wood, and sheet metal very fast with a lot of power. Read some reviews about poor battery life in the 14v and 12v, but the 18v does not have that problem. Little bit bigger battery than the 12v and 14v, but still small and managable. The only job I haven't tried is drilling holes of 1/2" and up yet. I strongly recommend this drill.

amazing driver,

I was told to get one of this by a carpenter friend. I waited 3 months. What a mistake. All I can say is, it drives screws like nothing you ever used with no spinout.
The first time I used it was to install a kitchen. I'm hocked. I'll be ordering more.

Incredible driver! I drove 40, 6" lag bolts into pressure treated wood, along with 24 concrete anchors. All on a single charge. The driver made easy work out of an otherwise labor intensive activity. I would easily recommend this item to anyone considering an impact driver!

Like having another guy on the job,
This review is from: Bosch 23618 Impactor 18-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Impact Driver (Tools & Home Improvement)
This driver is awesome. It truly is like having another guy on the job. You can hold up your own cabinet box and then drive screws with ease. I never have to push down on this driver unless using a paddle bit on wet lumber. I have used and abused this driver and its still keeps working. I highly recommend. Only problem and I am sure this is not really a problem is that it will snap stainless screws because of its power. I recommend pre-drilling if the shank of stainless screw is small in diameter.
