1.0 out of 5 stars A Lemon?
Maybe it's just a lemon, but it sure is a piece of junk. I won't waste my money on Bosch tools again. This drill-driver was good for one season, facing a block wall with redwood siding. It was not that much driving. This year it has one speed: drill. If I'd wanted a drill I could have gotten it cheaper. Thank goodness our old driver isn't completely dead yet.

I'd been wanting to upgrade from my reliable Makita 9.6V for a long time and looked at practically every 12V out there. I am not a professional, but a pretty serious diy-er. I was looking for more power and battery life but had neither need nor desire for a big heavy monster. As of this writing, there was really only one other drill worthy of serious consideration at this quality level / price point- the Panasonic EY6405FQKW. 12V models from serious manufacturers like Porter Cable, Milwuakee and Makita were all considerably more expensive. While each company still makes some great drills and other tools, (I own several each by Porter Cable, Makita and Bosch and have been happy with them all) in this 12V cordless drill category, Bosch and Panasonic are the front-runners.

In the end, despite the fact that the Panasonic is the best seller here and very highly rated, I chose the Bosch for several reasons; My comfort level with the brand, the fact that it's Swiss made, (the Panasonic drill is made in Mexico) the 3 year-warranty and price ($10.00 less) all swayed me towards Bosch.

The drill has not disappointed a bit through the first few months. The keyless, one-handed chuck is fantastic. Great soft grip and balance. The trigger and switches are comfortable and perfectly laid out. The power is incredible, plenty for all but the absolute toughest jobs. (Something that I keep a corded tool around for anyway.) Operation is smooth and quiet, given the power at hand. The trigger is sensitive enough that you can turn a screw as slowly as needed in a delicate situation. The battery life far surpasses the old Makita and with the two included batteries you're never stuck on the job without power. Quality is something that can be easily seen when it's put in your hands; Bosch delivers a great product with the 32612. Am I gushing? Maybe, but I have nothing to do with the Bosch company or anyone affiliated, I just really like nice tools.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not made in China, November 12, 2002

This drill is the best 12V on the market. It is made in Switzerland, and it shows. Its quality is unmatched by any other brand in this price range. If your not going Milwaukee or better, avoid the temptation of buying that Dewalt, and go with the European.

Its got a comfortable grip, solid feel and construction, and is clearly made to handle anything.

Remember, good tools are made to last. Don't buy the Made in China __[insert brand]__ that will end up in the trash in 3 years. This drill will definitely make it for the long haul.

This drill replaces my old BOSCH 9.6 volt drill. The batteries were $49, so I bought this instead. This one has considerably more torque and speed than the old one, yet it is light and much smaller.I've had it for three months now, and like the old bosch, it's taken everything that's been thrown at it. It will drive large deck screws in tight spots and is light enough to use all day. A solid tool, the drill is made in Switzerland and the battery and charger are made in China.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bosch 12 v Drill, January 11, 2007
I bought this because I used the Bosch 9.6 volt drills in my construction job. We liked the light weight of the smaller drill and they lasted well. Now I'm retired and had to buy my own drill. I don't use it in a production manner so the bigger 12 volt model is fine. I was surprised at the difference in power. It will easily drive large screws and you will likely slip in your bit connection long before it would bog down. The fact that it is a reconditioned model means nothing to me as there is no difference that anyone can tell except for the price. Both speeds are about right and the chuck is easy to use. It charges quickly enough and lasts long enough. It probably lasts twice as long as the 9.6v model. I also have an 18 volt Dewalt and it is a log. It sets as the Bosch does all the jobs.

5.0 out of 5 stars almost all you could ask of a 12V drill/driver, February 4, 2011

I have had this for about a decade, used for light to medium duty DIY jobs. Works very well, tons of torque for a 12V (about the same as a 14V Makita), autolocking chuck is solid and extremely easy to use, torque clutch control is quite linear, works fine in a very high dust environment, balance is excellent.

Batteries do eventually wear out, but still semi-functional after many years, including some hard use. Note: batteries seem to self-discharge much faster if you leave them plugged into the drill (leakage current?).

Only things I've seen on other small drill drivers that would have been nice to have are 1) a depth gauge; 2) an LED.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading product description, September 7, 2005

This drill was clearly advertised online as having been manufactured in Switzerland.
When received, the drill was clearly marked "Made in China."
This is not something Amazon should be proud of.
Needless to say, I returned the drill.
The mistake was clearly Amazon's, but they still kept
$9.99 of my money.
This, too, is something Amazon should not be proud of.
Amazon may lose this customer.
P.S. I would not give this product even one star, but this review would not be accepted with no stars. Is there a message here?
