As a class, Bosch Compact Tough drills are designed to offer extreme durability in a small package. The 33614-2G delivers tons of power in a compact size that makes it easier to maneuver in tight spaces than many other drills in its class. At a relatively slim 5.3 pounds and with an ergonomic, soft-grip handle, this is a very comfortable drill to use. The Bosch-built unibody power train that contains the motor, gearbox, and clutch in one contiguous unit for durability and the best alignment possible. That and the Durashield housing, made from a flexible ABS nylon blend, makes the tool extremely resistant to damage, including multiple 1-story drops in Bosch's tests. A steel-reinforced collar protects the tool even when it is dropped on the chuck.
Other features include a 15-position clutch to prevent stripped screwheads and buried screws; a ratcheting, single-sleeve 1/2-inch chuck for one handed bit changes; and a 2-speed gear box to provide optimal performance for both high-torque and high-speed applications. The integrated bit holder at the base of the handle is easy to access. -- Tod Harrick
Bluecore Battery Technology
Bluecore batteries offer up to 50% longer life than comparable batteries of the same voltage and a fast charging time. Special cooling rods absorb the head inside the batteries. Sensors within the batteries communicate with the new Bosch 30-minute chargers to ensure optimal results. Bluecore batteries are completely compatible with all Bosch cordless tools.
Fast 30-Minute Charger
Available in single or dual bay models, this charging station charges all Bosch 9.6-, 12-, 14.4-, 18-, and 24-volt cordless tool batteries in 30 minutes. A microprocessor measures internal battery temperatures to optimize energy flow and maximize battery charge capacity. 2 LED indicators make it easy to see when your batteries are fully charged.

Fantastic Drill - Pricey but worth it.,

What can I say? a Bosch is a Bosch! It oozes power and quality. It's a bit heavy for smaller hands, but once you've used it, there's no going back. The battery lasts and lasts. I've driven dozens and dozens of 2.5 inch drywall screws into studs on a single charge without a sweat. I can't imagine needing the 18-Volt version unless your going through concrete. Also, the fact that the chuck locks (won't spin freely in reverse) when the drill is off, means you can lock the bit into place without using 2 hands - sweet. This drill is for anyone who recognizes quality and appreciates an extremely well-made tool. If your happy with Sears Crafstman, don't bother getting this drill - you wouldn't appreciate it. If you want the best; Get Bosch, get this drill.

When my Craftsman 16.6 conked out, I almost bought a DeWalt 18.8, but luckily noticed this drill. Positive locking, extra life batteries with 30 minute (fact) charging, half-inch chuck, free-as-a-bird swivel ring for hand guidance, reasonable weight, Bosch feel -- did I mention half-inch chuck?
And it has all the torque I could ever need, including making holes in hard wood -- But don't believe me, YOU try to stump this drill. (Lotsa luck) Aside from not having a hammer drill, this is all the drill I could ever want. By the way, Amazon is about $50 less than any other supplier on this product -- along with free shipping. It's a no-brainer.

This is an excellent, solid cordless drill. I bought it to replace my 14V Dewalt because they want $75 to replace the batteries that stopped taking a charge after about a year and a half of light use (probably a function of the charger, but nevertheless, the batteries needed replacing). The other downfall of the Dewalt was the chuck. It took 2 hands to really get it tight, but the Bosch gets tight with one hand holding the chuck and hitting the trigger with the other. That makes the chuck pretty much as tight as I can get it and the bits never slip.
I use the Bosch for all the normal stuff plus running a wire wheel for removing paint on the car I'm restoring. Battery recharge time takes about an hour and the batteries are long lasting. Lots of torque. Excellent trigger feel to control the speed. An interesting feature is that the chrome piece on the chuck will rotate independent of the main chuck so if the chuck tip is up against the wall, the chrome piece on the chuck will stay stationary which won't eat up the wall or whatever it's sitting against. Because the Bosch is so solidly built, it felt heavier than the Dewalt, but I quickly got used to the weight difference. I see this Bosch lasting me for many, many years. I'm very happy with this purchase.
