I've been in carpentry now for over 27 years and a self-employed remodeler/contractor for over 8 years and 5 of those years the Model 5412 has served me very well. This saw is simply amazing in terms holding a square and plumb cut. I have only had to adjust the square cut maybe twice in the past years and never had to worry about the plumb. It's amazing. But time has taken it's tole on my saw and it's time to get a new one.

After having shopped around and strictly looking only at Bosch, I've decided the newest version 12" DB Glide is to bulky and heavy for that matter and the 5312 is okay but just not the same saw without the swivel handle.

If you're looking to make a serious investment, look no further. The 5412 is in my opinion the "Top Dog" for someone who takes his saw in and out of the truck cap daily. The only drawback to this saw and probably can be said with most miter saws out there is the dust collection. That's it.

The new and unique articulated arm "sliding" mechanism allows this saw to sit on a 30" bench with a wall to the rear. Other 12" sliding compound miter saws that slide on bars require 42" or more clearance from a rear wall. This feature and Bosch's reputation for quality products makes this saw a good choice for a home shop. So far I am very happy with the purchase.

I purchased this saw to replace a radial arm saw and am very pleased with my choice. The size and quality allowed me to bench mount it and the result is a sturdy, accurate tool that accomplishes several tasks. It is well designed and comes almost totally preassembled. I highly recommend this tool, but not for portable applications.

I went with the Bosch 5412 simply because it is a Bosch. It is everything I expected. It was perfectly adjusted right out of the box and had more features such as cut depth control than I knew about. You won't go wrong with this one.

I'm a professional trim carpenter and used this saw for about 5 years before the bevel mechanism literally broke from the inside out. I would never recommend this saw to anyone simply because it is so heavy and huge. Simple gravity and physics makes this saw very prone to become inaccurate quickly. In fact, I will never buy another 12" saw regardless of brand. With the sliding ability of most quality miter saws, there is simply no need for a blade that large.
