5.0 out of 5 stars great, but takes getting used to
We live in a brownstone in New York City with no ventilation in our cellar for a conventional dryer. We've had the Bosch for 2 years. Bosch makes one of the few condensation dryers with the capacity to dry large loads. It takes about 45-60 minutes to dry a standard load of shirts and socks. Large bedspreads take about twice as long. It's a lot slower the conventional...

1.0 out of 5 stars Bosch Axxis Dryer Takes You To The Cleaners (and service is awful)
Like I've seen on many blogs (which I should have listened to), the Bosch Axxis dryer is eccentric/temperamental and doesn't work half the time (and it's very expensive to begin with, but that's where your costs start). It's washer companion is just fine, but between a host of different elements on the dryer, maintaining it is difficult at best, the sensor is extremely...

It's a lot slower the conventional dryers, but it does the job. It is easier on fabrics because it simply pulls moisture from the chamber instead of blasting clothes with hot air. My clothes seem to hold color better. It's expensive, but fine if you don't mind the wait.

The outlet for this dryer is not conventional. It's not a big deal (inexpensive) to get an electrician out to switch it, but that will be a small added cost.

Like I've seen on many blogs (which I should have listened to), the Bosch Axxis dryer is eccentric/temperamental and doesn't work half the time (and it's very expensive to begin with, but that's where your costs start). It's washer companion is just fine, but between a host of different elements on the dryer, maintaining it is difficult at best, the sensor is extremely temperamental, and Bosch's service is criminal. Bosch has a curious "blame the customer" attitude, uses a 5th rate corrupt repair guy in the NYC area -- and don't seem to care (repairs cost $99 for the visit + $120/hour for labor). It looks good on top of their serviceable washer, and that's about it -- buyer beware!

1.0 out of 5 stars Good News, Bad News, October 14, 2011
This review is from: Bosch Axxis Series : WTE86300US 24 Condenser Electric Tumble Dryer
The Good: These are great units for a second floor closet without a vent. If you have a vent, there are better and much cheaper alternatives!

The Bad: High Cost, Long Drying Cycles and (in my case) Poor Quality and Service.

You are paying a lot of money for the Bosch name and I don't think the quality supports the price. When the dryer needs repair, you will find out that it is cheaper to replace than repair.

Life is too short.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worse than useless, February 2, 2012

Takes way too long for a working family with a toddler

Only spins one way, so sheets make a giant ball and won't dry

Takes so long to dry that clothes mildew

Steams up house

Will not dry until clothes are dry, on any setting

You'd be better off getting a clothesline and paying someone $1000+ to hang your clothes on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bosch WTVC33000US Electric vented dryer BEST dryer ever!, September 25, 2011
By
This review is from: Bosch Axxis Series : WTE86300US 24 Condenser Electric Tumble Dryer
We recently purchased this Bosch electric vented dryer the 300 series which is now discontinued. I think you can still find this model. The dryer exceeds our expectations, a huge upgrade from our 8 year old GE profile, which never really did a good job even when it was brand new. The sensor cycle in this bosch dryer is perfect. The capacity is great as well so my large capacity washer actually matches the dryer capacity (not so in the old GE profile dryer).
It is extremely quiet which was a bonus, you can hardly hear it running. I believe we will save $$ with electric and my time going back and forth to the dryer when the clothes are still not dry.
Good luck,

1.0 out of 5 stars Dryer that does not dry clothes, March 31, 2012
This review is from: Bosch Axxis Series : WTE86300US 24 Condenser Electric Tumble Dryer
I rented a place with this dryer and went on line to find out why it does not dry the clothes. I also downloaded the manual and did all the things that it said - like cleaning the condenser and the sensers. Still did not dry the clothes. I would be very sad (and mad) if I had actually purchased one of these. Very expensive for something that does not work. Forget about dry towels and your sheets will be balled up into a wrinkley wet mess.

1.0 out of 5 stars doesn't actually dry clothes most of the time, March 3, 2012

This review is from: Bosch Axxis Series : WTE86300US 24 Condenser Electric Tumble Dryer
We inherited a new Bosch HE washer/condenser dryer set with our house. We were so excited! Don't have to go buy new appliances! But now I know why they left them here.

The dryer condenser is not well designed. It is flat, so the condensate doesn't drain well. Then it becomes full of water, then it stops condensing, then the clothes don't get dry. I literally take this out between every load to clean out the condensed water, and I still have to air dry it completely every 3-4 loads or it just won't work. Plus, lint gets in the metal condenser and it's almost impossible to clean out. I've tried pipe cleaners and towels and chopsticks.... it's about a food long and has closely spaced plates of metal ridges for surface area for condensing. The thing is, the lint travels through on the air and gets stuck on the metal ridges. Then because it is so long and the plates are so close together, it's almost impossible to clean. It should be snap-together or something so you can open it up to get the lint out. But it's not. My best solution so far is to take used dryer sheets and run them through with chopsticks. It takes at least half an hour to get most of the lint out, and it's tedious and unnecessary.

The front vent is difficult to open to clean as well. Also, because it's not designed to vent to a duct to go outside, the water condenses in your laundry area (for us, a closet with doors).

All-around poor design. Full of frustration. I got a set of HE stackable washer/dryer from Sears, the Kenmore brand. Better warranty and works great. More features, same size. Also, since I got it on sale, cheaper. Go to a brick and mortar store and save yourself some grief.

This dryer came in an apartment I recently rented. It leaves the clothes damp every time. Does not work well at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars THERMADOR/BOSCH PRODUCTS ARE NOT WORTH THE MONEY, August 21, 2010
By
Juana M. Rojas (SAINT PETERSBURG, FL, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bosch Axxis Series : WTE86300US 24 Condenser Electric Tumble Dryer
Last year I built a home and spent a small fortune buying all Thermador/Bosch products, including 2 dishwashers, a washer/dryer set, Thermador Refri/Freezer and wine columns. The dishwasher racks contantly need to be reattached and the bottom rack falls off the track every single time I pull the rack out. The Bosch dryer completely stopped working after a month. Bosch repairman could not repair the dryer for a over a month and 5 visits. Because I had no dryer for over a month, I had to buy a replacement dryer. BOSCH REFUSED TO REPLACE THE DRYER AND REFUSED TO DO ANY MORE DIAGNOSTICS UNLESS I UNHOOKED THE NEW DRYER AND RE-INSTALLED THE BROKEN DRYER. Obviously, unhooking the new dryer would have left me dryerless again, so this was an unreasonable demand. Thus the broken dryer is still sitting in my garage and Bosch will never repair per the Warranty. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER THERMADOR OR BOSCH PRODUCT AGAIN AND RECOMMEND THAT YOU BUY ANOTHER APPLIANCE BRAND, WHATEVER YOU ARE SHOPPING FOR. Even the %5,000 wine cooler came with a bad compressor and had to be replaced but I was out of a wine cooler for months, including the holidays. And good luck finding a Thermador/Bosch repair shop. There are only 2 in the entire Tampa/St. Pete Florida area.
