4.0 out of 5 stars issues with ice maker, drawer clearance, tight space, yet solid

Bosch runs fine mechanically and I have no noise issue with mine, lucky me.

The only issues I will address are:(mostly design issues)

1. ice cubes land in the glass fine, but crushed ice always get clogged inside the door, whenever I check the door opening it, removing the clogged and overfilled ice, both cubes and crushed, in the chute...

The delivery people dropped this off, and we unplugged it almost immediately due to a high pitched, headache-inducing noise when the compressor comes on (verified by visitors to our home). The service person from our vendor came the next day, agreed upon the noise and thought there was an issue with the compressor. He had our salesperson replace our refrigerator with another new one. The new one had the same problem, so we contacted Bosch directly and they sent their representatives out. They could not find an issue with it. Our vendor's service person came out again and called his Bosch representative, who noted a similar problem with a prior model and suggested replacing a board. The board was replaced, but the problem persists. Bosch and our service person had no alternative solutions and we are now returning the refrigerator altogether.

We purchased several other Bosch appliances at the same time (dishwasher, stove, washer, dryer) and found them all to be great; sturdy and quiet. We are extremely disappointed and unsure what we will end up buying. The only other Bosch refrigerators available to us are in the same series (we have 300, 500 and 800 appear to be the same except for more features) so we are afraid they will have the same problem and are looking at other manufacturers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing but problems, June 24, 2010
This review is from: Bosch : B22CS30SNS 22 cu. ft. Linea Series Side by Side Refrigerator - Stainless Steel
Got our first Bosch, and it was great. Quiet and beautiful to look at. But a defect inside allowed the glass shelves to fall off their pegs, just as you put a gallon of milk on it. Bosch came out and condemned the unit. I was impressed. Out comes #2 refrig. Plugged it in and the compressor sounded awful. A metallic rubbing sound inside the compressor. Could hear it across the house. Ice maker did not work. Out came Bosch, who replaced the ice maker but said the compressor was fine. Well the compressor noise has gotten louder, and now the ice maker died again. Also the refrig has a door open alarm feature. Well, my kids left a fruit drawer out a little, which caused the door not to close all the way. I woke up the next morning to a refrigerator that was 50 degrees inside, and no alarm sounded. Out comes Bosch for the third time. He condemns the compressor, ice maker, and a computer board. I contact customer service and demand a new machine, as it is only 2 months old. "Sorry, our warranty says we fix it, so thats what you get" She also refuses to let me talk to anyone higher than her " I am as high as you can get" she says.
I purchased it from Fergusen Enterprises, a wholesaler to the construction market. Jeff at Fergusen in Downers Grove Illinois, stepped in and pressured Bosch to replace the unit. We are currently waiting for Unit #3 to arrive.

1.0 out of 5 stars I hate this fridge, May 2, 2011

Bought this fridge last July from HHGregg and I am so disappointed in it.

Besides the fact it is extremly loud, you can't keep the doors open more than 10 seconds or it starts beeping at you. I've read about this and you can't change it.

Besides that, everytime we put the milk in the door - the molding around the milk drawer pops off. At this point, it has happened so many times that we can't get the molding back on.

The latest is the ice machine stopped working. I called Bosch and this was a joke. They didn't seem to care.

So I talked with HHGregg and they gave me a # to a service place they use.

I have been waiting for TWO WEEKS for Bosch to mail the new ice machine. It is under warranty, so that is nice - but just another pain.

Not to be outdone, now the 'alarm' comes on periodically. This never happened before, but started when the ice issues started.

So now it'll be three in the morning and the fridge alarm will be beeping.

If I could go back and get another fridge I would.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ice maker a mess. Compressor runs all day, April 14, 2011

Only six months old- we were choosing between a GE and a Bosch and bought the Bosch because it was German made and seems well built. It certainly is attractive.

1) Long and short- spend any time in Europe and see how many Germans use ice makers-- none. Guess that's the reason Bosch has made such a mess of the ice-maker. Every time you go to get a few cubes, 10 of them fall all over the floor. Every time. 2) When it gets full, the ice-maker stops. And then never restarts again when it's empty unless you manually restart it. This means you spend a lot of time with an empty icebin (surprise...) 3) For no reason, 2 months ago the fridge started to run 24 hours a day, our of the blue. Our electric bill doubled during that time. We now need to get the vendor's service people out. What a hassle for a new fridge. 4) The alarm goes off after 1min. Incredibly annoying when filling the fridge... so we turn off the fridge to fill it. And... then often forget to turn it back on. A real design flaw.

Bottom line: Bosch hasn't figured out fridges for the US market yet. What a disappointment. Next time, based on our experience and the reviews in Consumer Reports, we'd pick the GE for sure. I wish that we never picked this model, or Bosch. We won't again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Noise, October 25, 2010
This review is from: Bosch : B22CS30SNS 22 cu. ft. Linea Series Side by Side Refrigerator - Stainless Steel
Very nice design. Smooth ball-bearing drawers.
First item was unacceptably loud. metal-tickling noise come from compressor.
I exchange item (thanks lowes). Second starts with the same loud noise but in 1 week tickling noise get down to almost acceptable level, but fast running fan produce another type of noise also noticeable. I decided to return it an change brand to Sumsung. Samsung making different king of nose just a little bit quite then second Bosch. But more important it does not drive me crazy, Bosch does.
I'm still love Bosch design, engineers please fix terrible nose.

4.0 out of 5 stars issues with ice maker, drawer clearance, tight space, yet solid, October 19, 2011
This review is from: Bosch : B22CS30SNS 22 cu. ft. Linea Series Side by Side Refrigerator - Stainless Steel

Bosch runs fine mechanically and I have no noise issue with mine, lucky me.

The only issues I will address are:(mostly design issues)

1. ice cubes land in the glass fine, but crushed ice always get clogged inside the door, whenever I check the door opening it, removing the clogged and overfilled ice, both cubes and crushed, in the chute is a real pain! So, I STOPPED using crushed ice.

The cube ice also scatter outside the glass if the neck is narrow.

2. The bottom drawers in the fridge(right bottom) require the right door to open almost 180 degree or it will hit the stainless door panel edge and dent it.

3. the door only had two awkward and quite useless shallow and short shelves to accomodate the very same deep drawers. I have to squat to retrieve salad dressing bottles and tall beer cans.

4. compared to Fisher & Paykel counter-depth fridge I used to onw, the depth seems to be very limited and
I feel the space seems to be always stuffed, not enough to move things around. But, I already knew this and still had to have bosch for retaining a decent resale value in my area.

5. Mechanically, I have not experienced any major issue, refreshingly cool filtered water makes me feel good for not buying any bottled drink.

1.0 out of 5 stars SOOOO LOUD & poorly made, September 7, 2011
This review is from: Bosch : B22CS30SNS 22 cu. ft. Linea Series Side by Side Refrigerator - Stainless Steel
Constant high pitched ringing sound will drive even the most tolerant person to utter distraction. Per manufacturer, this noise is "normal part of operational design". Door shelves do not fit properly and often come away from the door altogether. Door handles rattle & cannot be tightened (only solution is to replace entire door which has the same rattling handles. Not a solution!). Ice maker jams frequently even w/regular use. DO NOT BUY THIS REFRIGERATOR unless you plan to use it in your garage & someone will sell it to you for less than $500.

1.0 out of 5 stars Dead on arrival, May 8, 2011

I just got this refrigerator delivered yesterday morning and it's already dead. The freezer and refrigerator is not cold. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED that I spent $2000 on a busted refrigerator. Had to throw out $300 of frozen food and other perishables. Worse appliance purchase of my life. DO NOT BUY this or any other Bosch appliances. I certainly won't.
