5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth, Clean, & Quick!
I've tried many a cermaic tile bits. These by far excell beyond all. The long sides keep the bore straight as you drill. I've used the 1/8" up to 1" on all types of tile and granite.
Once you have your mark, I use drill driver as a punch with the bit installed and give it a little bump on the back to punch a nick in the glazing of the surface and start drilling. I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the best for porcelain tiles
If you are using this bit for porcelian tiles, then you batter have a lot of time on your hand. This baby cuts perfect but takes a lot of time because it constantly needs to be cooled. this is not good on a heavy duty construction project with lots of holes. The smaller versions cut better. If you are using this bit for porcelian tiles, then you batter have a lot of time on your hand. This baby cuts perfect but takes a lot of time because it constantly needs to be cooled. this is not good on a heavy duty construction project with lots of holes. The smaller versions cut better. I have found that using the small holes and gradually increasing the size give the best results but this is a time consuming process. These beat the core drills in that if they were faster; they doo not need to be cleaned out after every hole. Plus there is a very clean hole with no chips at all. If you are impatient stay away the harder you push on these the more quickly they will get dull and can even bend. Slower speeds work best.

I use a spray bottle with water to spray as I drill to help keep it cool during drilling. I don't know if it helps but it seems to in my opinion.
