3.0 out of 5 stars Hand Blenders Rock
I started using hand blenders when my first baby was born. I made him all of his food at home and there was nothing easier than the hand blender. Fast Forward 15 years and I'm on my 4th blender. I like the Bosch brand and had seen this one with a renoun Chef's name added. I got a much better price here. The blender itself is not very powerful, but sufficient for most...

When i went to use the Mixxo for the first time, I was not sure how I would like it. I have had hand mixers before and they never live up to their hype. I know BOSCH makes quality products so I decided to give this a try. The first thing I attempted to make with my new Mixxo was a smoothie. I read that the foot can crush ice, so I figured that it would be able to blend up frozen fruit. I used the blender jug attachment piece and added my ingredients, I then attached the foot and turned the Mixxo on. In order to activate the Mixxo you have to hold down two buttons and then release one, this is a safety feature, but it was a little bothersome at first because i was not familiar with the machine. After a few minutes I was able to get the hang of things and the smoothies turned out great. I even added extra ice at the end and the Mixxo was able to crush the ice with no problem. On my second attempt to use the Mixxo I used the food processor attachment. This was really neat. The base of the processor has suction cups which help keep it in place on the counter. I found it very simple to hook up because the hand piece hooks on the the top of the processor. I was also very pleased with how quiet it is. I was able to talk with other people in my kitchen when I was using the Mixxo. Additionally it fits perfectly on my counter and all of the pieces except the hand piece can go in the dishwasher. It was very easy to cleanup after I was done using it. I am very satisfied with my purchase and I would recommend this hand mixer to anyone. The Mixxo exceeded my expectations. Once again BOSCH has delivered. It would also make a great wedding present or house warming gift.

***Update***

I've been using this as a mini food processor and potato masher a lot over the past 2 years! It's still strong and works well.

It chops onions (with no eye pain) and peppers evenly.

It easily granulates and mixes spices, rubs and breading mixes.

It can make smooth or chunky mashed potatoes in an instant.

I love this thing and will continue using it every day until it wears out.

I really like the fact that it is cordless.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the outdoor, August 21, 2008

Since I cater part time. I often have to have use of a blender/mixer/chopper and this Mixxo proved perfect to use, especially at an outdoor event.. I had the chance to use this machine for the first time on the 4th of July and it was great since we where outside I thought this would be the perfect time to put this to the test since it's cordless, and I wouldn't have to miss out on any of the activities by leaving the party and going inside to have use of the electricity. I could continue to enjoy myself while also preparing drinks, sauces and and it made some of the best smashed potatoes for salad..This worked out perfect and my friends where interested in purchasing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good brand, good item, May 9, 2009
This review is from: Bosch MSM6A60UC Mixxo Cordless Handheld Blender and Chopper, Black/White (Kitchen)
I use this a lot & am glad to have it. The included 'mini-processor' is great for small quantity preps.
My one pet peeve, however, is the dual-button configuration!
IMHO, this is totally unnecessary. Apparently meant to be a child safety thing, it's a pain to deal with. I wanted *cordless*, so it becomes a trade-off. There is at least one application where a better choice would be something with a *flat* blender foot with a low-slung blade (as opposed to the scalloped foot with the blade raised higher-as in this unit). Bamix (corded) makes a few. [...] I prefer to do some of my mixing/blending in a Pyrex mixing bowl instead of the included blender jug, though.

As of date, I have had no real issues with this mixer. The test will come with time. The only fault I have found is with the processor attachment. The "post" that the blade sits on is not secure and food, mostly liquid, can get in there and it is not super easy to clean out. The bowl lid, also, is not sealed well and allows liquid from food or washing to enter it and it sometimes comes out the next time you use it.

I burned up the motor on two (2) BRAUN handheld mixer/chopper making just
a simple humus. Braun may make some good products but I shall never purchase anything else from that maker. My BOSCH is powerful/a real workhorse and I thrilled to have it.

I am so pleased with this blender and Bosch. Because it is cordless, I can take it to the stove to puree/blend soups and sauces. The chopper accessory perfect for small quantities of herbs, garlic, ginger root, etc. and so far (1 month) battery has lasted through all jobs. But the best part - I am with the US Army in Germany (power is 220 volt)but I will return the US (power is 110 volt) in 2 years. The exact same mixer (but with 220 V charging station) is available here, but I wouldn't be able to use it in the US. I discovered that, in Germany, Bosch sells the charging station separately (very inexpensively). So I bought the US mixer and the 220 volt charger station to use while in Germany. Now I can use it anywhere!!

We use it as a blender, chopper and mixer. It does it all perfectly. The knives are firm and the materials used are of high quality. After all, it is a Bosch.

Definitely recommended for everyone who loves to cook; housewives, couples, singles and students.

5.0 out of 5 stars "It's a good thing", October 26, 2008

Handy gadget - more powerful than I anticipated from a battery operated device. Easy to clean, nice charging station - Bosch quality. Lots of fun to experiment with - make your own hummus. Little chopper perfect for less than 1 cup qualtities - like nuts for baking.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyday convenience, March 19, 2010

This review is from: Bosch MSM6A60UC Mixxo Cordless Handheld Blender and Chopper, Black/White (Kitchen)
This Bosch Mixxo sees use in my home 3-5 times every day. Its light weight, and how it feels in your hand makes it invaluable for making smoothies to mixing cream in a coffee cup. Cleanup takes only seconds, the dual button to power the mixer is ingenious as it eliminates the mixer from engaging unexpectedly.
It is powerful enough to easily crush ice and frozen foods like berries smoothly in under 30 seconds. However, it is important to understand that the Mixxo is meant for smaller applications, e.g. 8-32 oz total. In other words, attempting to make a Margarita for 10 people is not going to work out very well. Experience has shown that a tall narrow container(stainless steel shaker glass) allows for the best results with the quickest, most effective blending of ingredients. This shape will provide the vortex needed to thoroughly mix ingredients smoothly.
The Mixxo is not designed for blending batters, doughs, or other thick, viscous materials. This goes for nearly all immersion blenders, the blades and small shield simply don't allow for it.
The key feature and the one that makes it stand out from the rest is that it is cordless. If more power is needed in a cordless, they certainly exist at a much higher price, but for small everyday jobs, the Mixxo is perfect.
