First I must say that Bosch's customer service is the worst I have ever seen or dealt with. They are rude and demeaning but if you never have to deal with them then this product is a joy to own and use.
It is the best thing in my kitchen. It is the very best mixer I have ever had or used and that has been plenty because I am getting up in years. This mixer out does even my Kitchen Aid by lots and it looks great on my counter. I gave away the Kitchen Aid.
It is not just a mixer because it has many attachments and that turns it into a blender, a grain & meat grinder, a cookie press, a shreeder, food processor, a berry press and on and on. You do not need to have all those other things sitting all over your kitchen taking up space because this does it all.
You might be thinking that you have tried those machines that claim to do it all but because they try to do it all they do not do anything well. That is not the case here. It really does do it all and does it better!!
I cook and bake all the time and holidays are special at my home because of all the great smells that come out of my kitchen so I need not good but great appliances. This is a great one and it saves me so much time. Its has plenty of power to handle anything I have asked it to do.
I recommend it highly but I would rather jump off a cliff then to deal with the company or their customer service.

I'v had a bosch since 1990, and I've yet to find an appliance to compare. I would love to upgrade to the larger model. I had a Kitchen Aid Pro in my business and had to send it back to the company three times in two years. I never want to own another Kitchen Aid. I highly recommend this product for everyday baking, and if you do large volumns of bread, I would recommend the larger one. This model says it will do three loaves, and I have done 3, but two work out perfectly. It makes the best homemade bread I'v ever tasted.

I have had other larger Bosch mixers, but I am retired now and live in a small apt. I still love to cook, though, and when I saw that Bosch had started making the Compact Mixer again, I was thrilled. I ordered mine from Pleasant Hill Grain (and they have great customer service by the way) and I was soon playing with my new mixer.

It may be compact but it is 400 watts powerful and can really do it all. I got the combo package and I'm delighted with the performance of both the blender and the shredder. Easy salads and great smoothies.

Because it is compact, I just leave it out on my counter and find I use it more because it is handy. However, the mixer is light and would be easy to store on a shelf or in a cupboard. It is very stable though and doesn't move around while mixing. The way the accessories attach is a little different, but not difficult. The owner's manual has clear directions and pictures, so it is easy to figure out.

This mixer is powerful enough to make whole wheat bread with freshly milled flour, so my next project is to save enough money to get a Nutrimill!

Pros:
This mixer has a small enough footprint and is light enough that it can easily be removed from the counter and stored in the pantry.
I am very pleased by the park position that locates the mixing attachments to facilitate tilting the mix head up so that the coated attachments will drip into the mix bowl.
The mixer is quiet and easy to use.
The mix bowl has a pour spout that reduces the potential for mess.
The mixer is powerful enough to perform most mixing tasks.

Cons:
The mix head does not stay firmly down when mixing bread - it raises up and lowers down as the mixing hook works around the circuit.
It doesn't handle normal bread dough. This is a gear design inadequacy - not a power shortage.

Discussion:
This mixer operates just great for all light mixing. However, when I make a normal bread dough (whole wheat, but not particularly thick) the mixing head pops as the gears inside slip. The mechanism cannot last long if I keep making bread - the primary purpose for which the mixer is intended.

I am going to have to contact the manufacturer to see if there is anything that can be done, however I don't hold out much hope. I've only had the mixer for a month, but I don't expect a replacement will do any better. I would like to get my money back, but will have to wait to see if Bosch will cooperate.

Other thoughts:
After reading the reviews on ALL of the mixers out there I was hoping that this mixer would meet my needs. It appears that there are only two choices for someone who wants to make bread. The first is just to knead the dough by hand. The second is to purchase the Hobart five quart mixer, but at a cost of $2k, kneading by hand is looking pretty attractive.

I researched stand mixers in 2008 when my old Sunbeam finally gave out. I didn't want the very large Kitchenaid models taking up space on my countertop. When I found the Bosch compact model, I was very excited, and ordered it. I used it several times, and let my mother know how well it worked, and how easy it was to use. She liked it so well, I gave her mine, and ordered another one for me. Clean up is easy, stores easily in a drawer or on the counter. Mixes heavy bread dough like a dream.
