Never imagined everything it would be useful for--now a go-to tool.

While I will probably buy most of my blades online it's nice to know you can go down the street if ever in a pinch.

Perhaps there are other tools that can do what this tool does. There are definitely less expensive tools. And lord knows I own a lot of them but .... this tool is fun, functional, and first rate. It's Bosch. It's made well. You hold it in your hands and it just feels solid. If you've never used one of these before but have visions of a grinder you sort of have this mild terror feeling within before starting it up the first time. But then you press the button. Ahhhh soft start - every tool should have soft start. Then it's just humming away. Much quieter than jigsaw. Feels more like electric sheers. But still what to expect when you press it head long into some wood? A smooth slight buzzing sound and a slow easy plunge into the piece. Cuts like butta'. Wow. Now I have to ask myself what the hesitation was in owning one of these. I can never be without this tool. It's not so much that you need it every day ... it's more that you are just thinking about more ways to use it. It's that enjoyable.

I'm a diehard Amazon guy but I did not get it here. One of the hardware chains has a better deal on a kit that is not available on this site. In fact, I think it is only available at the one chain. I had never used one and didn't know anyone else that had one so I wasn't sure which one to go with. Fein is very nice but very expensive. When I was at the store I narrowed it down to the Bosch MX30, Porter Cable PCE605K, and the Rockwell RK5140K. This was partly due to the variety they had available and partly due to my research which suggested having a tool-free design would be handy. here are some of my thoughts:

The Porter Cable had the easiest tool change and was the lightest unit.

I decided to pick this up instead of the Fein due to the tool-less blade change mechanism, as opposed to the pin style that the Fine uses. My coworker has a Fein and i have to say the Bosch is definitely quieter than and vibrates much less. Overall its a great tool and would definitely buy again.

This tool gave me accurate plunge cuts on Sheetrock that I couldn't get any other way. The blades are very durable.

This tool is awesome. I read reviews on six of these tools and am really glad I purchased this one. The quick change lever for the blades works perfectly. If you need to cut trim molding or scrape caulk from a bathtub you definitely want to purchase this tool. For caulk, order the flexible scraper blade along with this tool. The caulk tool did not seem to work well for me, but the scraper blade worked fine.

This is a solid unit with plenty of power. Also, kinda heavy. Not as easy to handle as the old Fein or the Makita 3 amp tool. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that I got really ticked when I went to use my old blades from other manufacturers. I tried to use my Bosch universal adapter with it and it does not work with this Bosch tool. There is NO adapter for this unit. But it does use the OIS attachment standard, so the second generation of blades from other manufacturers should work. They're just hitting the stores now. This is my first tool-less blade change oscillating tool, and it made me nervous when I saw it. How can that possibly hold? But so far, so good. Bosch usually does their homework, unlike Rockwell, who made a unit that would not hold the blades tight for more than a minute. Or Craftsman, who made a unit whose non-replaceable motor brushes would clog with sawdust and fail.

Very nice, solid construction. Much quieter than my other tools. 21 accessories is really 15 sand papers and 6 tools. Made in Switzerland.

Have used for about a week. Well made tool and easy blade changes. Soft start makes starting cuts easy to do accurately. This is a useful tool for tight spaces and where you want to limit depth of cut. Haven't tried sanding with it. This is not as beefy or as rugged a tool as a sawsall but easier to control. Have cut alot of 3/4" thick wood and the saw does it well, need to let the saw work and not force it or use too much pressure.
