I've been looking for a great radio to use outdoors for volleyball and I loved the DeWalt's because they were heavy duty. I stumbled upon this Bosch on Google and read A LOT of reviews about it. I was SUPER worried about the sound quality considering the DeWalt's always cracked once they were pumped up just a bit loud.

I just received this product and BLASTED it with some bassy and high treble music and what happened? NOTHING BUT AWESOMENESS!!! The sound was SO CRISP and the subwoofer was GREAT!!! I even dropped this badboy from about 8 feet high, while playing a song, and it was GREAT!

Quality construction (except the huge knobs which are questionable) and GREAT sound quality!

There are quite a few jobsite radios out there now and it seems like every major tool manufacturer now has one. There are only two that I know of that recharges batteries and that's the DeWalt and the Bosch (who probably licensed the technology from DeWalt because of the lawsuit). I bought this one over the DeWalt because I like the Bosch litheon series of cordless tools.

The sound from the unit is great. It really pumps out clear highs and it's got a subwoofer on the bottom for really nice bass. I did have one complaint and it's when you have the volume set at a low level (under 3 or 4). You can hear an audible hissing and it get's worse (like a hum) when you plug it in and it charges the battery. It probably has to do with interference from the charging circuit. As for the hiss, who knows...

Some reviewers mentioned that this really isn't an upgrade cuz it doesn't play CDs, cassettes, and/or 8-tracks. Are you kidding me? Who plays 8-tracks anymore? And if you ask your 8 year old about cassettes, they'll look at you funny and probably ask you if you meant one of those Nintendo cartridges.

This radio is pretty heavy and it's got a roll cage to protect it from falls. It's got 20 presets for FM, it can play music from SD and USB, and it has two mini-stereo AUX inputs that you can connect to your iPod or iPhone (it even includes a short cable for that purpose). It also has a 12V lighter socket which I use with my iPhone car charger. Unfortunately you can't use the charger (which is on the outside) and keep your ipod inside the sealed compartment at the same time.

The unit also has two AC plugs but I wouldn't power my 15 amp corded tools through those. I mainly use them for my cordless tool battery chargers.

Firstly, for those who want the quick answer: yes this is a solid, practically indestructible, powerful radio. The bells and whistles on this unit sold me instantly. Bosch's only [STUPID] downfall was not allowing music from an iPod to be played via usb. A decision that I'm sure they're regretting now. *You can still play it through AUX cable though*

Longer answer: I originally purchased this radio from Lowe's for $214 (price including tax), this was a calculated mistake. I wanted to know exactly what I was buying before ordering online because everyone knows how much more difficult it is to return an online item than in a brick and mortar store. I found that this radio was plenty powerful despite my previous doubts. Also the strategic positioning of the four speakers on the corners of the cube really do distribute the sound 360 degrees; to me the bottom subwoofer is just a cool bonus that no other jobsite radio can boast. I tested all the ports, battery compartment, and outlets and found that everything delivered just as it should. Just note though the battery charging option is slower than the speed charger that comes with Bosch 18v tools. I returned the unit I purchased from Lowe's and had it shipped to my house for $150 (Christmas sale) nearly $65 savings! Thanks Amazon!

I got this as a gift for x-mas and ever since I got it I look for any reason to use it. The sound on this bad boy is so dam good, I might even go as far to say that it might even sound better then my Bose radio! This box can get pretty loud and it will fill open spaces and large rooms with its awesome sound. The roll cage is built solid and will take pretty high falls. But if this thing falls don't worry about the box worry about your floor this thing weighs in at a hefty 25 pounds. There is nothing wrong with this machine that I can find, it is prefect. Bosch has really out done them selfs on this product. Nothing else on the market can compete with this box-of-awesomeness!

Style Name: 12V Compact Radio Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I picked this radio up for the hubby to use in his shop and garage. Here are his thoughts:

"1. Rugged it is! Feels like you could drop it and it wouldn't get damaged. The handles are off to the side and protect the speaker grills and the buttons/LCD are protected by the handles coming up higher than the control panel.

2. It's about 12 inches wide, 8 inches tall, and 3 inches deep. Weight: 3 lbs 5.5 oz with the AC adapter/Aux cable but not the battery pack.

3. LCD is easy to read and is back lit with a blue light that goes on when control panel is being used.

4. There is a short rubber, flexible antennae, that tucks away securely and is protected by the wrap around handle. Reception is great, I had a Sony boom box in my work shop in the basement, with the metal telescoping antennae and I was having trouble getting my favorite radio station. The Bosch PB120 had no problem, reception is great.

5. Two ways to power the radio via A/C adapter which is provided or a Bosch 12V max. lithium ion battery pack sold separately. I was not able to test with the battery pack since it didn't come with it. There is a battery port on the bottom of the unit that it slides/snaps into. The specs claim it can run all day on one battery charge.

6. The radio has FM/AM plus an Auxiliary port (short 7inch cable comes with it) so you can hook up your favorite audio source such as iPhone, iPod, Android, MP3 player, etc. that takes a 3.5mm plug.

7. It has a small battery compartment that hold two AAA batteries to keep the time current.

8. It has 5 preset buttons so you can program in your favorite radio stations.

9. There is a Mute button for when the boss is yelling at you and you need to pay attention.

10.
