This review is from: Bosch RN175 Roofing Coil Nailer (Tools & Home Improvement)
One roofing job down and so far I'm impressed. Wide range of tool-free adjustment on nail depth makes it easy to get the right level where the nails are buried but not blowing through. Coworker's gun wouldn't adjust without allen wrench which was missing so we turned the air down to 75 psi and there was still room to adjust this one's set depth down. So plenty of power, seems to be spot on with Bosch's 10% more claim. Very compact, smallest RN I've seen, but not the lightest around so in theory this would make it more able to withstand the inevitable falls. Single flip open on the coil pack is nice for one handed quick changes. Dry fire protection is also a handy feature, no more blowing 3 holes in the shingle before you realize you're out of ammo.
Seems to be a little more prone to double taps than some if you're depressing the trigger after depressing the nose guard, and the only way to switch from single to sequential fire is to swap out the included trigger. Not a huge deal but the Porter Cable style switch would be nice. Has no male air end included either. The listing I bought was allegedly new, but has been correctly changed to "refurbished" on here now, though it is (well, was) mint condition and came with a tag that said "sales demo" on it. Get 'em while they last! The different piston retract method on these guns means more moving parts to break no doubt, but if that happens within an unreasonable amount of time, I'll update this. Barring that, consider me a satisfied customer. |
