I have just installed this particular model of Bosch Dishwasher. This is a lower end model in the 300 series, Bosch's middle of the line series. Bosch's bottom line series is the Ascentia, and they lack some of the features that Bosch is know for, such as two pumps. For that reason I avoided that series, this particular 300 series model is priced only about $100-150 more than the bottom line Ascentia.

The noise level of this model is 48 decibels, which is fairly quiet for a dishwasher. Some of Bosch's cheaper units are 52/53 decibels, which would be over twice as loud as this 48 decibel model. However, you definitely can hear this unit is running, so really no need for the red lazer beam projected onto the floor. I suppose this is primarily for dry cycle, since you cannot read the LED display of the time remaining, with the door closed. Still fairly quiet though, you can fairly easily have a conversation or watch TV in the same room with the dishwasher running.

This unit has the control and LED display on the top of the door, and you cannot read the display of how many minutes remaining in the cycle. You have to open the door to see it, and some water will spray out of the unit. If I could go back, I would have purchased a model with a front facing controls and display.

The other thing I am dissapointed in with this model is the lack of the "express" cycle. The fastest cycle on this model is the "half load" cycle, which isnt much shorter than the "normal" cycle (99 versus 115 minutes). The "express" cycle on similar models is a 30 minute cycle, very nice for lightly soiled dishes.

Overall, this is a nice dishwasher and is both attractive in appearance and quiet running. Bosch has a reputation for reliability and efficiency. I have several relatives and friends that have purchased Bosch dishwashers in the past and have been extremely happy with them.

We've had this unit on a daily use regimen for about 9 months now, and like it very much. This is a very good, very quiet dishwasher, but we really miss the rinse/hold feature and the heavy soil pots and pans settings of our previous model. Maybe a higher level Bosch has those features. Yes, the interior is a bit smaller than our old one, but fine for a family of 4, washing 1 load a day. The shortest cycle is 78 minutes, much longer than our old unit, but I guess that to become more energy efficient, the cycles likely run cooler, but longer. Makes sense? The dishes always come out clean and spotless, tho. The low rinse-aid warning light is very handy. One minor complaint: We now notice soap bubble residue in the bottom after the load is finished. The dishes are well rinsed, but there's still soapy residue below. Kind of weird, so maybe I'll call Bosch for some input, and post the explanation here if worth noting.

Broke after 15 months. Needed a new control panel. Only used 1-2x a week. Repair man said it probably never worked correctly. Maybe thats why the half load said 120 min the normal time was 82 minutes... hmmmmm Water also comes out of control arms onto dry dishes once you open to unload. Smells if not used once a week.. even if there are no dishes in it.
But is IS quiet! I have spent lots of time and $$ on repair people and plumbers on a dishwasher thats not even 2 yrs old and it wasnt that cheap!

This dishwasher is very nice aesthetically and cleans dishes very well. It would be perfect for empty nesters or a family who eats 1 meal/day at home. As a family of 5 who rarely eats out, I have to run this 2-3 times/day!! It replaced my GE dishwasher who was a but bulkier and stuck out of the cabinet by a couple of inches, so I purchased this one for its compact size. It says it holds as many or more place settings than my old one, but it's not true unless you have very thin plates! Mine don't fit in there snugly between the tines. Also, it is the same height as my old dishwasher, yet I can't put spoons, knives, etc in the bottom silverware tray. They are too tall and bump the top rack, so I have to lay them down on the top rack between cups. This is my biggest complaint! If you have casserole dishes, mixing bowls, in addition to plates and cups this dishwasher will not hold it all. Be prepared to hand wash your dishes or have a sinkful waiting for the next load. I did still give it 4 stars because it's pretty, cleans well, and is very quiet. But be wary if you go through a lot of dishes in a day, that you will be loading and reloading all day. I feel like it's my life.
