I've owned this dishwasher 16 months now, as of June 2015, and have only good things to say about it. I purchased the white exterior model SHX68T52UC. It is identical except to the exterior on this model. I'm posting this on this model because so many people are purchasing stainless and want people to have the full scope on this dishwasher. I'm going to attempt to cover all aspects on this dishwasher and address issues some people have had.

This dishwasher replaced a 10 year old Whirlpool. I had many of the same cycles on my Whirlpool as this does, except the half load cycle. I spent almost $800 on that dishwasher at the time.

I read my manual on this dishwasher over 20 times to really understand how it operates. This dishwasher operates differently and if you're not open to doing things differently; then you should probably look for a standard dishwasher with a heating element. Scrape your dishes rather than rinse them. The new detergents contain "smart enzymes". If your dishes are too clean, and you add too much detergent; you can end up with residue and etching on your dishes, especially glassware.

People have complained about the lack of a heated drying cycle. The government has mandated all dishwashers use less energy and water. The new dishwashers won't perform the same drying action as the dishwashers of old with a heating element the size of ¼" rebar. One of my friends purchased a new Kitchen Aid, and she's frequently left with the tops of glassware and Tupperware or plastic ware not dry. The key is angling items, so water runs off of them. Many of the American manufacturers are going to this type of drying system also.

If you have a whole house generator; you cannot use the heated dry cycle.

We've had one of these for a few months now and, in general, are happy with it. I think the best way to describe it is that it's great for dinner parties - It can hold a TON of plates, bowls, cups, etc. assuming that they fit into their proper little slots. Our plates do, and it's great - We can easily stack 14 of 'em in there without a taking up a lot of room. Our (Fiesta) bowls are a different story - They don't fit very well at all.

The little 3rd rack works pretty well - Not great, but it does do nicely for extra silverware, lids, small measuring cups, etc. It does, unfortunately, shrink down the amount of clearance for the main two racks and our (tall) drinking glasses barely fit.

It is indeed very quiet - Not perfectly silent, certainly, but does a pretty good job at washing dishes without a lot of noise.

As others have mentioned, it does NOT have heating element for drying dishes. If you're used to a typical dishwasher that gets everything bone dry, be sure to consider this - There's a lot of water left on the tops of glasses, etc. In general, it's not a big deal and we don't have any problem with it, but it took a while to get used to.

Perhaps the biggest complaint we have is that it's hard to fit in big things - 13X9 pans, mixing bowls, etc. The racks are so focused on packing in the dishes that it's really hard to fit these kinds of things in and they often have to take up WAY more space than they should. As the title implies, if you're washing massive amounts of dishes after a dinner party, however... It's great.

Do we love it? No. It does it's job, it gets things clean. We're getting used to it, but probably wouldn't choose it again if we had to choose.

My #1 piece of advice if you're considering this washer would be to find it in person and take some dishes with you and try it out to see how they fit.

My 14 year old top of the line Kitchen-aid had broken once again....over the years I became an expert in fixing it. Yet the parts were expensive and when the top rack rails broke and these parts along with others neared $400 I decided a new dishwasher was in order. Frankly when the kitchen-aid worked it worked well, but fixing it yearly was a pain. Newer Kitchen-aids were getting mixed reviews (top racks breaking after 13 months), so I queried others about brands that broke less often. Recommended were Bosch and Asko.

Removal of old unit:
So I looked at reviews and purchased this unit....not from Amazon as a local big box store was $100-$150 cheaper and installed it myself. Removing the old one took 25 minutes. Circuit breaker off, remove kick plate, open electric connector box to remove 3 wires and the clamp to hold the romex, close the water valve, disconnect water connection under the sink, disconnect the exhaust hose and unscrew the two screws holding the unit in place. Slide unit out for haul away when the new unit came.

Delivery and installation:
I paid $810 of this dishwasher. It took a week to arrive, but since my old one was semi-functional that wait didn't matter. I had disconnected the old dishwasher the day the new one was to arrive. The delivery people hauled it away and brought in the new one. After removing packing materials I saw that one had to install an electric box so the unit could plug into a plug. They recommended putting it under the sink, but I already had a plug for the garbage disposal. Frankly the plug supplied was not long enough so I put it up in a recess. 3 wires to attach. The unit came with a water hose so the one the store recommended I buy was not needed and was returned.
