[...], and bought it as my old Makita had finally died. It comes in a handy case with two batteries and the charger, but not even a single screwdriver bit (they could have put one in!)
The advantages are that it is small with an LED light to help in dark places, reasonably powerful (for 4 volts), and the batteries last well and charge quickly (30 mins or less). Another advantage (if its power is too little on occasionns) is when you release the trigger the bit locks so you can actually twist the tool as if it were a manual screwdriver. The only disadvantage is it doesn't have a clutch so you can't vary the torque and avoid stripping screws. However, a variable torque clutch would have drastically added to the cost and Bosch were obviously looking for something in the low cost area. [...]

Powerhouse in the hand,
This review is from: Bosch SPS10-2 4-Volt Max Pocket Screwdriver (Tools & Home Improvement)
I picked up one of these from HomeDepot, where I work, when it went clearance for 29.99.
A little about me. When not working I am involved in property maintenance, rehab, and renovation. This little driver has served me very well. At first glance, as other reviews have noted, it does not seem that much different from other 4 volt cordless tools. What sets this one apart only becomes apparent during use. First is the light. It is ideally placed to illuminate the precise location of driving with minimal shadow cast on the exact point of driving. Also, when the direction button is set in the middle, the light can be used by firmly squeezing the trigger without powering the motor and draining batteries. I know that this might sound redundant and one might have a flashlight, but anyone who has gotten stuck in a crawl space working on electrical when their flashlight dies will love this feature. The second is the variable speed motor. FULL VARIABLE SPEED MOTOR. Smooth trigger action ensures maximum control when driving screws in so as to avoid damage to sensitive equipment (computers and other electronics). I have also picked up a drill bit set that is designed to insert into the 1/4 inch hex screw bit socket and I have used this in furniture repair easily. The battery life is fantastic. I have never had both batteries run dry on a remote job, keeping in mind that I do not use this for heavy construction. Speaking of heavier tasks, however. I have used it to sink the occasional drywall screw into 2x4 studs (not pressure treated). Overall this is an excellent driver for keeping in the bag when working on detail work and as a backup for many common minor repair projects.

A GREAT VARIABLE SPEED SCREWDRIVER!,

I bought this at the Home Depot for $39.00, then after Christmas again for $29.00. I figured for $29.00, you could not get spare batteries, so why not. This is a great screwdriver. It is variable speed and perfect for LIGHT jobs. This is the beauty of it, it is not a cheap screwdriver that is just on & off. The variable speed allows you to start the screw slowly so the bit does not slip off. I put together furniture, installed shade brackets, installed switch plates, took sheet metal screws out of my washing machine and then reinstalled them, etc. This is small and handy, holds a charge for a long time and really is a work horse for light duty jobs. I highly reccomend this tool. It comes with a charger and 2 batteries in a zippered case. You will not be dissapointed!

I am retired and do maintenance on a small Apartment Complex my wife owns. This is possibly the most handy tool I own. Capable of doing most maintenance jobs without the weight of my 10.8, 14, or 18 volt drivers! Battery life is good & it charges in 30 minutes. I'm planning to buy a few of these for Christmas presents.

I was doing some electrical work behind furniture and there was not enough room to use any of the power drivers that I have. So after much sweat and frustration I finished the job and bought this tool. What a great find!! It fits in cramped quarters and the light is very handy. Keep in mind that this is not meant to drive #10 wood screws into maple, it's a pocket screwdriver. It has very little torque so if you want to set a screw in a pre-drilled hole you're going to have to use muscle power or a bigger tool. But, if all you want to do is tighten up door knobs, replace electrical outlets, not strip screw heads, etc., then you'll be very happy.

This Bosch replaces a Milwaukee Ni-Cad rechargeable driver I was using: Milwaukee 6546-6 2.4-Volt Ni-Cad Cordless Screwdriver with 3-Piece Bit Set The Bosch driver is smaller and 'chunkier', and feels good in the hand, A bright LED lamp illuminates your work, and the large trigger has about 9 or 10 speed settings, depending on how hard you pull it. This model doesn't have a torque control setting, but if you reduce the speed just before cinching-down the screw, it's really not necessary. This tool is great for working on PC's, and for most light household jobs. The Bosch can sit on the shelf for months, and the lithium battery will not self-discharge as the Ni-Cad battery in the Milwaukee tool is prone to. And the lithium battery charges fast too, in less than an hour.

The magnetic chuck is nice. It's small and comfortable. It has rechargeable battery with spare. Other than that it has most of the same features as many others, but goes from forward to reverse too easily.and very easy to push the button that does it. Can be frustrating.
I only bought it because it was on sale. I'm lukewarm about this purchase.

Don't buy a Bosch SPS10-2 Pocket Screwdriver,

I've become a fan of smaller and often more useful tools, such as drill-drivers and routers, so I was excited to see Bosch enter this market. I bought a Colt mini-router a few years ago and have been mostly happy with it, although it's a bear to hold the chuck lock button down. Then along comes this 4V drill-driver. I bought two at Home Depot for $39.99 ["list" price is $143-$179], and have returned both. Along with the exaggerated ease of bumping the forward-reverse button, which constantly hampers use, this unit has a thermal cutout if the load is too great - and, unfortunately most loads are indeed too great. I've been unable to drive a screw all the way in, and to unscrew screws that my cheapie Black & Decker pull out with ease. But for my money, the Triton TC36LS 3.6 Volt Lithium Ion Screwdriver at $35.95 [ASIN:B00196P5BI Triton TC36LS 3.6 Volt Lithium Ion Screwdriver on Amazon] is the best buy out there - and I've tried a few.
