Sturdy, compact, quality, value,

This review is from: Bosch T1B Port Folding Miter Saw Stand (Tools & Home Improvement)
I am semi-retired so I have the time to research purchases very thoroughly. I settled on this after much research. It is a compact 46" long with extensions removed, and just fits in the back of my little Tracker. Very sturdy all steal construction--only the knobs are plastic. I could put my 66 lb. radial arm saw on it, if I wanted to. It accommodates saws with three point mounting like my Hitachi. It is under 50# and much lighter with extensions and mounts removed. I like the fact that the extensions are coaxial so the supports don't tilt in different direction like those that are mounted one forward and one rear. One square tube actually fits inside of the other and is slightly smaller. You can shift the saw on the rails easily, so while the extensions only span just over 8', you can get about 56" on each side of the blade (not both sides at once, but how often do you need that?) giving you an effective span of 112". The Bosch version of this stand doesn't seem to be widely available anymore. It looks like they have switched to the Track Rack. I feel this is less glitzy but is superior functionally. You can still get the same stand under Bosch's partner brand (Skil) for much less, but it is a national chain store exclusive.

Easy Assembly, Easy Adjustment, Accurate Cuts!,

I have the Skil identical twin to this stand and am delighted with it. It is easy to assemble and once your mitre saw is attached to the brackets it is quick and simple to remove it for storage. The stand collapses easily and quickly and stores compactly. The extension arms can be set to easily make repeat identical cuts. I have struggled for years placing my mitre saw on the ground and propping the material to be cut with blocks of wood; it is so nice to work standing. This really is an essential tool and well worth the money.

Nice Stand,
This review is from: Bosch T1B Port Folding Miter Saw Stand (Tools & Home Improvement)
This stand was free with my miter saw and I was somewhat concerned that the quality would be less than stellar. I read many reviews that spoke of how difficult to assemble it was. I found the stand to be very easy to assemble and quite sturdy. The only reason it does not get 5 stars is its lack of easy portability.

This came as a freeby with a Bosch 10 inch sliding miter saw that I bought for my son as a 2008 Christmas gift. He is a finish carpenter who has to move from job site to job site. Shipping was fine (no damage as others have reported) and he put the unit together in less than a hour. Once put together, the unit collapses and sets up quickly for storage and moving in his Xterra. He's happy with it and that's all that matters to me.

Saw Stand - Strike Two,
By
This review is from: Bosch T1B Port Folding Miter Saw Stand (Tools & Home Improvement)
This saw stand was a free perk for buying Bosch's 4410L miter saw. When the stand was deliverd in the mail from Fed-Ex, I instantly there were going to be problems based on the rough condition of the box. The packaging styrofoam was broken showing the bent extension rail. I remained optimistic telling myself that the stand was free and returned it to Amazon for a replacement.
The second stand arrived and the box was in fairly good shape. After opening the box and looking at the contents, I quickly learned that I had received a "reject" stand from someone else. Not too big of a deal, until I couldn't locate the bag of stand assembly hardware. Now I am thinking that something for "free" is generally not "hassle free." As customer service suggested, we'll see how my conversations go with Bosch to get a hardware packet. I might just be returning this stand for a third replacement. I hope this doesn't drag out too long. UPDATE: Amazon's customer service suggested that I contact Bosch for the replacement parts and that any expenses would be reimbursed. Since then, Bosch has provided the missing parts and the stand is up and running thanks to good customer service. If the stand was not free, I would not have purchased it because I think it's overpriced. However, it is sturdy and places the saw at a comfortable working height. I am not too impressed with some of the joint welding and sheet metal bends, especially for the price. Overall the stand is a good addition too my shop and I will give it 3 stars.

Missing Part,

Upon receiving this I noticed that the box looked like it had gone thru WWII. My suspicions were confirmed when I opened it and found out someone else had already attempted to assemble this and sent it back. Nevertheless, I tried and quickly found out why - one of the 4 mounting washers had the hole drilled in the wrong place. I called Bosch and finally got thru to someone who could find this model in their parts catalog. They are sending a new package of loose parts. I'll update when I receive them. This is not what I expect from Amazon - very disappointed as this came from their warehouse.
Jan 7, 2009 Update: I have still not received the missing part from Bosch so I decided to use my jigsaw and modify the channel washer myself. Works fine now. The stand is actually very good. The legs do not snap tightly into place, there is a little play, but if you just spread them to their max in each direction it is very sturdy. The stand is basic but it provides solid support for the 4410L Bosch saw I'm using it with. The extended support rails are very sturdy as well. This saw came free as part of buying the 4410L, so I'm very pleased with it from that perspective. If I had to buy it myself, I might consider spending a little more money and get one w/wheels. However, it's very light and I don't move it around much so it's fine. I give it 3 stars after fixing it up myself. |
