This review is from: Bosch TDA8340UC Motor Steam Iron with Stainless Steel Soleplate And Auto Shut-Off (Kitchen)
A lifetime member of the club that believes in giving a product a good workout before reviewing it, I have owned this iron now for 4 months. Observations:
1. All irons should be at least as good as this one. 2. There is nothing extraordinary about this $120 iron, except its price. 3. Consumers shouldn't have to pay a fortune for a stainless steel soleplate, steam, and auto shutoff. Shouldn't these three things be basic to any iron? (Non-stick coatings and all the chemicals that go into making them aren't all that safe, nevermind that on an iron, they scratch easily.) 4. Because there is nothing extraordinary about this iron (or shouldn't be), that means most irons out there are cr*p... ;-] 5. The steam feature on this iron is excellent (all holes are actually holes through which steam can travel, not indentations made to look like holes that aren't really. The reservoir is see-through (good for ensuring full emptying after each session, as advised [but not always followed...]. 6. The iron blows through water, probably some function of the steam feature being so good. The pour hole could be a tad larger... must watch carefully when pouring water. 7. The soleplate is beginning to discolor around some of the steam holes; staining isn't easy to remove. This iron doesn't get industrial use, so staining this early, using only steam, shouldn't happen. 8. The cord is secured at the base of the iron with a ball bearing-like feature: nice, but because it is plastic and not metal, the bearing often sticks, causing cord to hit & stick into the ironing board too often when sitting the iron on its heel... 9. The iron's handle design takes some getting used to. Is this style meant to be ergonomic? If so, Bosch engineers should know that it's hard on one's wrist (the positioning of the handle puts the iron slightly off balance when picking it up and using it). This is especially problemmatic if ironing for extended periods (more than two items). Too, the pebbling on the handle is more annoying than not (hurts the palm of my hand). For $120, one *should* be picky. Will report back next January/February after warranty expires... UPDATE somewhat later than Jan. 05... Took a break from using this iron to try a Shark model, which I returned within two weeks because it leaked. Have been using my Bosch since then. Still blows through water--and is beginning to leak a bit, but I continue to use it because the steam feature is the best I've found so far. Message to Iron Manufacturers: why do nearly all irons not remove wrinkles? Increase the power of these now-wimpy products. Planned obsolescence is so annoying. It doesn't build any brand loyalty, in case companies care about that anymore.

BOSCH DOES IT BEST!,
This review is from: Bosch TDA8340UC Motor Steam Iron with Stainless Steel Soleplate And Auto Shut-Off (Kitchen)
Ironing is no longer a pressing problem (pun intended) at our house since I've been gifted with this superb Bosch iron.First of all, it's a breeze to use; it's not too heavy and the handle fits comfortably into the palm of my hand. The stainless steel soleplate prevents sticking, and so the iron glides easily over all fabrics (even those with metallic threads that used to be snagged by my old iron). Steam comes smoothly, easily, and in the right amount. The settings are wide ranging and accurate for the fabric to be ironed. I couldn't be happier with my new Bosch iron!

Best cord!,

This is the only steam iron I've ever found that has a NON TWISTING CORD! The cord swivels and it is fabric coated so it doesn't twist. Not inexpensive, but the cord is worth the price.Presses well also!
