Bosch TI18 18-Piece Titanium Twist Drill Bit Assortment with Plastic Case

I could not find my drill bits anywhere which cost $50 when purchased about 20 years ago. This set was nearly 50% less expensive for more bits and the same titanium coating. Also the new anti-skating feature is much appreciated. They cut really well. It is a good product for the price.

Amazon lists this set as TI118 but on the box I received was model TI18. No complaints here though, the case is slighty more rectangular but smaller. One nice feature I didnt expect were 3 hex slots on the bit holder, very convenient you can throw in a few driver bits along with the drill bits. More importantly the bits are Made in USA, to be more specific it says "Fabricated in USA of Austrian Steel". On those two points, I would recommend this set over others for the convenience and quality.

A set of the finest drill bits I've used. Drill material easily that otherwise has broken another drill bit.

Outstanding set of self starting bits. I work with industrial fabrication and have to drill in all sorts of steel. This bit set lasts 10 times longer than most sets, I have not found any out there that can compare.

These drills self start without walking, and drill with almost no pressure. However that is the catch. You CANNOT press hard on these bits, they will shatter the tips. You can have hard, or you can have flexable / tough. Hard stays sharp. Tough tolerates abuse, but dulls quickly. If you use these drills, set your drill chuck to screw and set the tork to slip on the smaller bits or the drills will chip as they break through the material. If you take care of these bits they will last you. Once I learned to set the slip clutch these bits seem to last forever! Best drill bits on the market, the only brand I will use.

And as proof of how tough they are, these cut stainless. Again and again. Try that with a hardware store bit!

This is my second set of these drill bits and I learned on the first set to not be to aggressive with the downward force on the bits -- medium force is all you need with these bits and the extremely sharp bits will do the rest. The price was super compared to the big box home centers, delivery was on time -- what else do you want?

Must be a new/revised set - Bosch site not showing TI21 set. Case now similar to Bosch TI13 set except with 3rd red fold out, and package now says, "Made in China" (as does other sets in this price range).

Has best features of other basic sets looked at. Set is 1/16-1/4 in 64ths plus 5/16, 3/8, and 1/2. (For some reason this and most other basic sets have dropped the 7/16 bit.) Set has 2 ea of 1/16 thru 1/8 most used for pilot drilling. 9/64 and above are split point ground to reduce wandering at hole start. 3/16 and above are ground w/ 3 flats on shank to eliminate spinning in 3-jaw chuck. 1/2 bit has reduced shank to fit 3/8 chucks. Case closes to solid compact pkg. When open, 3 foldouts give access like a regular drill index case. Titanium coated bits ground sharp and run true.

To rectify the common cost-cutting fad of dropping the 7/16 bit from a basic set, I bought an individual Bosch 7/16 bit, also with a reduced shank to 3/8(At $12 for one drill bit!), removed the 15/64 bit from the case, moved the 1/4, 5/16, and 3/8 bits down one hole location, drilled the 3/8 location over-sized with the 7/16 bit and then put the 7/16 bit in the former 3/8 location. Although technically missing the 15/64 size, set now seems more "complete" for the larger drill diameters.

Sent as a gift to a rural overseas site-so set needed to be of reputable quality but not able to report on long-term durability yet.

I recently had to repair a 40 year old snowblower by putting a used auger head unit on it. After getting it all hooked up, I found out that somewhere in the parts machine's long life someone had replaced one of the auger shafts with straight steel and a really tiny hole they had put a cotter pin in. I wanted to use the real deal in shear pins, so I was determined to drill it out to 5/16".

I started small and worked my way up.
Minus one star for the 5/16" blowing its tip.
Though, to be fair, I was able to finish the hole with the remainder of the bit.

I also have a Dewalt set with some of the smaller bits gone, so I had a choice of cases.
The Bosch case is way more useful than the Dewalt. You can tilt the bits up, making it easier to pull bits.
Plus there is a small carry space in case you want to store some nuts, washers, oil, etc.

I needed a 1/2 " drill bit ,cheaper to buy set than purchase one bit localy.If you need a set of drill bits
then buy these.

Well it's Bosch right? After owning this set for several years now, all the bits are intact and still cut well. That's really all you need to know. A joy to use and still sharp. The best drill bit set I've ever owned.

It seems that Bosch has gotten sick and tired of providing quality products. In a successful campaign to lower their image thay have apparently contracted with China using terms that require the production of inferior quality drill bits. I have tried using these losers with a Bosch 18v drill and many of the bits spin as if they were dancing around a Maypole. I have never owned such crooked bits before so it was quite a sight to watch them drive around in circles. I give them 3 stars because a few of them are actually straight. The remainder can drill a hole as long as size and appearance are not a requirement. My older set of Bosch bits are top notch - these are bottom notch.
