4.0 out of 5 stars An amazing coffee pot but beware
To begin with, I am a coffee addict. My morning ritual starts with grinding "just the right beans" and chasing the perfect half a pot. I'm probably on my eighth or ninth coffee maker over the years, and it's actually interesting why I change "equipment". The makers themselves never really seem to wear out, rather I get tired of them or their inadequacies - too slow, too...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good marketing; Poor delivery
I am very disappointed in this machine. I saw it on the Today Show and then purchased it from Amazon. I have had it about a month now and here's what's wrong: 1) metallic taste with each pot of coffee- now you'd think that this wouldn't happen with a high end machine, but no matter what I've tried it is still there-the literature that comes witht the machine mentions this...

To begin with, I am a coffee addict. My morning ritual starts with grinding "just the right beans" and chasing the perfect half a pot. I'm probably on my eighth or ninth coffee maker over the years, and it's actually interesting why I change "equipment". The makers themselves never really seem to wear out, rather I get tired of them or their inadequacies - too slow, too ugly, I'm just over it - always something.
This thing is by far the best looking and the smartest design. The way you put the water in is simple and ingenius. It automatically shuts off after brewing, and stores the coffee in a sealed canister - again great!! And again, I can't stress enough how beautiful it is!!
My problem with it is this - mine came completely disfunctionable. I put the water in and out it immediatly leaked, all over my counter. After many four letter words, being somewhat mechanically inclined, I decided to take it apart to trouble shoot, before I "send it back". I waited so long for this thing (back ordered at the time), the thought of another long wait was unbearable!
Long story short, I fixed it and it now works perfectly, and I'm really happy. It was very challanging however to repair - got quite the education to the innerworkings of coffee makers. Every single part inside was disconnected from where it should go. ... Bottom line - Porsche hit a home run. Bosch put it together in a way the needs improvement, or sombody somewhere should reexamine shipping and packaging standards - especially for the retail price. Just beware>
Update: Since I've written this commentary, a very professional and diligent representative from Bosch has contacted me, and offered to replace mine - immediately no wait. He also through in a grinder for my troubles! Good guy, good company, great followthrough!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally! Beauty and Function Meet Here, February 17, 2002

Perhaps due to Scandinavian genes, I am a very serious coffee drinker. I have tested (for over 45 years) every coffee and coffee maker known to humankind. The perfect coffee maker has finally been made and this is it. The flavor of the coffee is spectacular. Every aspect of function has been thought out including the non staining/spotting brushed aluminum of the coffee maker and thermos. I now have 5 friends who have purchased them. Another terrific aspect to these coffee makers is that you will never have to remodel your kitchen. They are stunningly beautiful. Put it on your counter and wait for the compliments. After all these years and coffee makers, I am finally extremely happy. Hansine Pedersen Goran

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice looking and brews coffee too., April 5, 2002

I bought this coffeemaker (and the matching blender) for my husband because I knew he would appreciate the design, and he does. However, he was already hooked on his Cuisinart DCC-1200 with the clock/timer, programmable, beeps when the coffee is done features so he took the Cuisinart to the office with him and he uses his new Bosch on the weekends. I don't drink coffee myself.

You must hold the water tank in your left hand to fill it and see the water level indicator at the same time. This can be a little awkward for right-handers. Even so, it's still great to have a removable water tank.

Since the carafe isn't glass and you can't see the contents without looking inside, you can easily cause an overflow if you forget to empty the carafe before you start a new pot.

Overall, it does a fine job of brewing coffee and looks great on the counter. But it is only worth the money if you really like the look.

5.0 out of 5 stars A CADILLAC COFFEE MAKER DESIGNED BY PORSCHE, June 26, 2002
This review is from: Bosch TKA 9110 UC Porsche Designer Series Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
Believe it was the poet Wallace Stevens who extolled the virtues of "late coffee and oranges in a sunny chair." That was his ideal Sunday morning. My ideal every morning begins with a cup of coffee made in this sleekly turned out coffee maker by Bosch.

It's award winning design by F. A. Porsche is state-of-the-art rendered in an attractive brushed aluminum. No more hiding a stained glass maker! The water tank is removable, thus making it oh so easy to refill, and the level indicator is easy to read (no squinting here).

After automatically shutting off when brewing is complete it keeps coffee warm for hours. I brew in the morning and with an 8 cup capacity have coffee for after dinner. It still tastes fresher than fresh.

For us, this coffee maker is a perfect pairing of flawless design and topnotch performance. Great looks and a great cup of coffee from Bosch - what more could anyone ask?

- Gail Cooke

5.0 out of 5 stars Coffee addict happy at last!, November 16, 2004
This review is from: Bosch TKA 9110 UC Porsche Designer Series Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
I have owned just about every coffee pot (and espresso maker) ever made. I found true love with this pot. The coffee is EXCELLENT. It brews in no time flat. My kitchen counter looks beautiful. Transporting water is elegant and easy. The aluminum doesn't spot. The parts go through the dishwasher. I have two at home and one for the office. I have been using mine for more than two years and I am still REALLY HAPPY!

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't say enough.... I love this coffee maker!, October 10, 2004
This review is from: Bosch TKA 9110 UC Porsche Designer Series Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
I have had several coffee makers and this, by far, puts the rest to shame. It is significantly sturdier than any I have owned before, the bulk of which were too plastic, too chinzty, too cheap, and too prone to breakage.

Perhaps the greatest feature (aside from its good looks and durability) is the simplicity of use. I only found one other machine on the market which has a removable water source for easy filling (and that particualr coffee maker is in my pantry, no longer in service.) I can't stress enough how important this feature is. There is nothing more annoying than having to fill the carafe and then pour that water into the coffee machine. Having a removable chamber which gets filled and returned to the coffee maker is far more convenient than trying to pour something into the machine itself.

The coffee is HOT!!! And, unlike some of the others who posted reviews here, I have never had any issues with leakage. I also have not had difficulty in cleaning out the carafe. My hand fits easily inside of it.

As for the appearance... while it does have a substantial footprint, the unit actually seems to take up less space because it is wider than deep. There is no huge amount of jutting out like my previous machines. This one sits nicely against the wall and looks very attractive in my kitchen.

No, there is not a clock or timer but it makes coffee so fast that those items are not really necessary. (I used to get annoyed at my old machine and timer because the clock would have to be reset every time I unplugged and moved the unit to clean the counter.) If dont feel like preparing coffee in the morning, just set it up the night before and push the button in the morning. You will have hot coffee in under five minutes.

It is a keeper!

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a porsche..., June 16, 2003
This review is from: Bosch TKA 9110 UC Porsche Designer Series Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
This coffee maker has all the styling elegance that the name suggests. It is truly a beautiful appliance.
Like its namesake, it is very fast, you have to be very careful with all that speed. Even if the carafe looks like it is in the groove, it may not be, and the result is hot coffee spinning out... oh, I mean spilling out across the counter. If you do everything right the coffee is great, but like every porsche I have ever dealt with this one leaks. Somebody needs to spend more time looking into the interface between the glass and the plastic on the carafe. Every time I pour a cup, a few drops of coffee come out the bottom.

4.0 out of 5 stars Handsome and almost flawless!, July 9, 2004
This review is from: Bosch TKA 9110 UC Porsche Designer Series Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
Of course, like most others, I purchased this for appearance, Bosch reputation and the high quality of the construction. And it has not disappointed in any of those regards, as well as being one of the most cleverly and friendly designs of any coffee maker I've used. It is constructed of solid brushed aluminum, that doesn't show fingerprints, coffee stains. The water filling container is removable (always a problem with vacuum carafe coffeemakers) and everything fits very precisely. The carafe will keep coffee hot for hours, but it develops an "off" flavor after about 2-1/2 hours as will ANY vacuum pot. The only drawback is that the carafe is a bit difficult to clean and requires a bottle brush. Even then, some residual stale coffee taste may be there; I discovered that it is in the gasket that seals it to the lid, not the carafe, so that must be dried off with a tea towel to ensure full fresh coffee flavour.

And it will make fast (and very hot) flavorful coffee while being the most stunning thing on your countertop!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bosch TKA 9110 UC Porsche Designer Series Coffeemaker (Kitchen)
My wife made me buy this one for the looks but I was shocked to find out that it actually makes better coffee. The carafe is double insulated so that no warmer is necessary to keep the coffee hot.

It is a little on the tall side, check the dimensions (hight) to make sure it will fit under your cupbords before ordering.
