5.0 out of 5 stars Exc for the specific job it is designed to do
It seems some of the reviewers are confused as to the purpose of this hose. It is not a general purpose shop vac hose. It is designed specifically to hook up to Bosch sanders without having to use the VAC002 adaptor to a 1 1/4" hose. I use it on the RS006 adaptor which replaces the canister on the 1295 and 1293. And it slides right on to the port on the 3x21 belt sander...

1.0 out of 5 stars waste of money
I would recommend that you stay away from this product. Don't even think about buying it. If you are sanding buy the 1" adapter for your sander and look elseware for a vacuum hose. Poor design, low quality plastic materials make this product a complete waste of money. RUN AWAY!

It has been made light so you can easily sand with it. To make it big, heavy and reinforced would defeat it's purpose. It makes sanding much easier. At 15 ft long you have enough hose and it has a 2 1/4 male end that attaches right to your shop vac. For use specifically with Bosch sanders (or maybe some other European stuff with the same size sander pickup) I recomend it highly.

I don't quite understand where the other reviewers are coming from.

I have the VAC001 hose and use it with my Bosch sanders and Bosch 11221DVS hammer. Both of my non-Bosch vacuum cleaners have standard 2-1/4" "female" ports that accept most vacuum hoses (including the VAC001) and use a friction fit to hold them.

The 001 hose is 15' long and light weight, and it's got an airflow contol at the vacuum cleaner end to prevent the vacuum cleaner from "overpowering" power tools.

The reviewer from 3 years ago must have received a defective unit. I've had mine for two years and have been quite happy with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Durability, February 4, 2005
This review is from: Bosch VAC001 19mm-by-15-Foot Friction Fit Hose (Tools & Home Improvement)
PROs - Lightweight, flexible and easy to use with portable tools. Really works well with hand drywall sanding tool.

CONs - Contrary to the photo on the amazon website, this hose is not reinforced like the original equipment hose that came with my Bosch 3931 professional vacuum. It is constructed of a very flimsy flexible plastic which is very easy to pinch. Once pinched, the hose collapses whenever the hose intake is restricted and further reduces air flow. It was a waste of money. I will need to obtain a reinforced hose which does not have this problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean, controlled sanding, November 7, 2007

This hose is exactly what I was looking for. Some of the other reviewers perhaps were not using this hose for it primary intended use:

If you look nearer towards the top of this page, you'll see a section titled: "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought." Looking here, you'll really see what this hose is for: sanding! So, just to be clear, this hose is really not meant for all-around general vacuuming jobs, and for this purpose, I think you'd be disappointed.

For me, it works wonderfully with my Bosch 1/4 sheet sander. Basically, the hose is very lightweight and flexible. I tried using a regular shop-vac hose along with some adapters, but there was probably one foot of fittings hanging off the end of my sander, and it could only be held with two hands. It was about as easy as sanding with something as big and heavy as a circular saw.

With this hose, I can pick the sander up with one hand, and maneuver it around effortlessly. Sanding is light and controlled, and most of all - clean. And for fine sanding, I would also recommend picking up a disposable drywall bag for your shop-vac too - it will totally eliminate dust clouds coming out of your shop-vac. Shop Vac Drywall Bag, 10, 12 and 14 Gal

FYI - this hose should fit most ShopVac brand vacs, but will NOT fit "Ridgid" brand vacs.

I agree with the other comments that it is a light weight plastic. But that is what I like about it. When using a hand held router or sander the other heavy hoses tend to pull against you. I also like the hose because it is extra long. My shop vac hose is only about 6 feet. The 15' in this hose lets you move around the work piece with out having to lug the shop vac with you.

I've used this hose for about 3 months now. I've even stepped on it a few times and have not had it collapse on me. Maybe my shop vac is not strong enough, but even then there is a flow control to reduce the suction in the hose.

In my opinion this product is fine. Maybe after several more months or years of use these other folks comments will come true.

After reading the reviews on this product in conjunction with the RS006 I was concerned. The hose friction-fits both the RS006 and my craftsman shop vacuum 2 1/4" female port just fine. I just took another look at the web offering and the shop vacuum male end is listed at 2 1/2 in" diameter. This is most confusing. The cost of the hose was a little high, considering what it is made of. My only other thought is that there is direct relationship between length of hose and suction. My shop vacuum sings as if the hose was plugged, signifying limited air flow. Shorter may be better. To those needing a hose, it works just fine.

This hose fit all that they claim it does but when using it with a vacuum cleaner it screams so loud at the tool end that I have to put on hearing protection. This happens even when not connected to a tool and when the adapter is pulled out of the hose. Seems that the corrugations in the hose cause the problem. Also the hose is stiff and inflexible. I'm returning it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great, except for the load squealing noise, December 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bosch VAC001 19mm-by-15-Foot Friction Fit Hose (Tools & Home Improvement)

I thought this hose was exactly what I was looking for. It was small in diameter and built for Bosch. I have a shop and we use Bosch's orbital sanders (Bosch ROS20VSK) which I love. We have a lot of dust and I've been trying to find a solution to minimize dust. I found a used Dyson which is perfect for this application. Anyways, got the hose and hooked it up. Turned it on and the hose started squealing very load. It is resonating due to the corrugations in the hose. This happened to me before when I bought a hose from home depot. Basically I determined that a vacuum hose cannot have circular corrugations, it must be spiral. Spiral corrugations allow the air to flow in a spiral fashion and will not create the high pitch vibration. I then purchased a vacuum hose from McMaster which had a spiral but it is too rigid which makes it hard to sand for several hours.

What a dumb thing for Bosch to do? I even tried my shop vac and the same thing. Basically any air flow through the hose will cause this high pitch squeal. I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. They must be using a very low flow set up. I tried varying the flow and it seems like any flow will cause the noise, but certainly more flow causes more noise.

Conclusion, when buying a hose for vacuums, make sure the corrugations spiral.

Too bad, the hose had the perfect weight and feel and seemed rigid enough. The search continues.

3.0 out of 5 stars An alternative, October 14, 2004
This review is from: Bosch VAC001 19mm-by-15-Foot Friction Fit Hose (Tools & Home Improvement)
After reading the comments on Amazon and elsewhere, looking at the unnecessarily large hose shown in the picture, and looking at the price, I decided to try to make an adapter for my existing Porter-Cable #39332 hose. No luck at the local auto supply store, but the local plumbing supply house found that a 1" O.D. grey plastic coupling with outside threads on both ends worked great. They carefully tapped the inside of the outlet on my Bosch 1294 detail sander and screwed the coupler inside. The PC 39332 intake (1" I.D.) slides snugly over the other end of the coupler.
