Bose® AE2w Bluetooth headphones (Black)

Bose AE2w Bluetooth headphones
  • Immersive sound with wireless convenience
  • Cushioned around-ear fit for comfortable listening
  • Bluetooth control module controls certain iPad functions, Bluetooth connectivity and more
  • Simultaneously connect to two devices and easily switch between media and calls

Unwind without wires

The first wireless headphones from Bose give you the freedom to enjoy your movies, videos and music unplugged. AE2w Bluetooth headphones offer full, natural sound and a comfortable, around-ear fit plus freedom of movement. You can watch your video on your iPad and reach for your coffee, or talk on your smartphone and retrieve those notes from your desk, untethered and untangled. No cords.

Bose AE2w Bluetooth Wireless
The wireless convenience allows you to move around freely and listen wherever you are.

Better sound built in

The AE2w headphones feature exclusive TriPort technology, which enables full-range sound—the clear highs to the full lows—from a lightweight design. The headphones also feature active equalization in the control module that provides a noticeable improvement to the sound quality. Your music and movies will take on a dramatic new dimension.

Wireless convenience

Conventional headphones keep you tethered to your devices. AE2w Bluetooth headphones—with a range of 30 feet—let you move around freely while still immersed in your music or video. The rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides seven hours of run time and 200 hours of standby time. You can easily recharge it with the included USB cable.

Get started simply

The headphones’ Bluetooth control module lets you connect wirelessly to your iPad, smartphone or other favorite Bluetooth devices. Just pair the headphones and your device—it's easy. Simply press and hold the multifunction and volume+ buttons on the headphones, and then choose the AE2w headphones from your device's Bluetooth list.

Bose AE2w Bluetooth devices
The headphones connect easily to your smartphone and other Bluetooth devices.

You can even connect the headphones to two devices simultaneously. For example, you can watch a video on your iPad while staying connected to your smartphone. The headphones will automatically pause the video to answer a call. Then, when the call is finished, the headphones automatically switch back to the video.

Versatile control module

Buttons on the control module include power, volume and multifunction. This button operates iPad functions such as play/pause and track controls for music and videos. It also lets you switch between calls and other audio. LED and audio indicators on the control module provide information on power, battery life and Bluetooth connection status.

Speak up

The module's built-in microphone lets you make calls when the headphones are connected to your smartphone and talk to the voice-recognition apps, like Siri or Google search, on your smartphone or iPad.

Bose AE2w Comfort
You can enjoy your movies and music in full, dramatic sound, without having to worry about disturbing others.

Comfort and durability

The headphones are designed with features and materials that provide lasting quality. The cushioned earcups and adjustable headband let you wear the headphones comfortably for hours. And the earcups fold flat for convenient storage in the carry bag. This makes it easy to take them wherever your travels take you.

I see that a lot of the reviewers here give these bad reviews simply because they bought something they were not informed about, and had unrealistic expectations.

First of all: You can't EVER compare wired headphones to wireless bluetooth ones. The wired ones will ALWAYS sound better, especially if they're comparing them to other Bose products. Simply put, the technology just doesn't exist yet, to make a bluetooth headset sound equal or better than a wired one.

Second of all: These headphones NEVER claim to be noise canceling. If you want complete noise canceling, then get wired ones and get some that specifically state that as a feature. These are NOT noise canceling.

Third of all: The range and specs are readily available for anyone to see, so be an educated buyer and find out what the wireless range for this (and whatever model you're considering) is; find out how long the charge lasts; and find out any other things you are wondering about BEFORE plunking down $250 dollars on a set of headphones. If you're willing to spend that much money without doing enough research, then maybe you deserve to be disappointed.

Now for the actual headphones: If you want wireless, these headphones are by far, the best out there. Trust me, I visited several stores and tried out Beats, Sonys, HK, Bose, and others. There were a few I did not try, but they were ridiculously priced (out in the $400 range) and if you want to compare these to some that cost $150 more, then you're comparing apples to oranges.

They ARE NOT technically noise canceling headphones, but they do minimize noise quite a bit when you're listening to music. If you want noise canceling, get the other Bose that are wired but similar price as these and you will be blown away by the sound.

Verified Purchase
I have tried 4 different sets of wireless headphones over the past couple of weeks and here are my thoughts on the Bose AE2w:

My first impression was that they looked really nice. I was concerned about the bluetooth module when ordering because it looked big and weird, but when they arrived it didn't seem to bulky and I let it go. I was more interested in the audio quality than the looks for this set.

After pairing them with my iPhone and iMac, I noticed that the volume was really low compared to my wired headphones. I tried pairing them only with one device at a time and the sound improved a bit but it was still low overall. When I tried using them with the provided cable, instead of the bluetooth module, the sound improved significantly (specially the lows) but I didn't buy these to use wired (ha!).

The sound quality was crisp and clear, but the balance was not -the lows were very disappointing. I tried different genres, and compared within headphones, including the Quiet Comfort 15 and the difference was very noticeable. This was one of the decisive factors for me, I wasn't looking for bass-amped headphones but I was expecting greater balance and better definition from Bose.

The main issue, besides the low volume and the poor sound balance, was sound leakage. When I had this at maximum volume (which wasn't loud enough), everyone around me could hear sound coming out of them. I did some test and I had to lower the volume to about 40% to be able to listen without disturbing the people around me. At that point, I wasn't happy with the volume level so I ended up using my other headset.

On the good side, they are extremely comfortable.

I compared AE2w(249$) with Beats Wireless(279$), Harman Kardon bt(200$?)

(1)Dispaly: AE2w is the best looking Bose Headphone. It is cool but still low key style. Beats gets a lot of attention and fashion design. HK bt is kind of strange style, like a robot I only used at home.

(2)Comfort: Bose is very light and so comfortable. But I did feel hot when I wear long time. Beats wirelss is on ear on design which has soft ear cushion. However, I felt uncomfortable bc I wear glass. HK bt is pretty comfortable but it is somehow heavy.

(3)Durability: AE2w is really durable and is pretty similar to AE2. But the AE2w's case is not good. I tried my Bose QC15 case that works with AE2w but I have to take that blue tooth device off. Beats wireless is like 90 percent plastic. I do not know it is durable I just bought a month.

(4)Noise Cancellation and Leakage: Bose AE2w is asgood as AE2 and it blocks and isolates lots of noise. Beats Wireless is better than SOLO hd in terms of sound isolation. HK bt is pretty good in this aspect. Others cannot hear me when I listen 40-50 percent.

(5)Sound Quality: AE2w's sound is BOSE signature sound and is pretty accurate and soft sounding. I did not get fatigues after long listening. Highs, mids, and lows are comfortable to wear. It does not have so much bass but it still good. Beats Wireless has too much bass and not clear sound. I think some people like this kind of sound but I prefer higher definition sound. HK bt's mids and highs are close to Bose ae2w, and Bass is better than AE2w but not as heavy as Beats.
