The Lifestyle® 38 Series IV DVD home entertainment system features 5.1-channel surround sound that is customized to your room's unique acoustics. It also digitally stores and organizes up to 200 hours of your CD music. A progressive scan DVD/CD player includes HDMI connectivity for your existing hi-def home entertainment system components. And video upscaling up to 1080p brings movies to life in brilliant detail.
The system's Direct/Reflecting® cube speaker arrays stand just over 6" high, but provide enveloping sound for your home entertainment. A horizontal center-channel speaker locks dialogue on screen and complements flat-panel televisions. These small speakers work in concert with the proprietary Acoustimass® module to fill your room with lifelike surround sound.
The ADAPTiQ® audio calibration system evaluates your room's acoustics and where your speakers are placed. Then it automatically adjusts the sound to your room environment, ensuring consistent Bose® quality performance.
The Lifestyle® 38 DVD surround sound system also features the uMusic®+ intelligent playback system to digitally store up to 200 hours of your music. While you're listening to your CDs, the uMusic system learns your preferences so it can automatically select and play the songs you enjoy.
All of this technology resides in one elegant media center, which also serves as a hub for whole-home audio with Bose® link technology.

The VS-2 video enhancer simplifies the integration of your system with other sources and reduces the wiring to your TV to just one connection. It automatically synchronizes the audio and video you want at the touch of a button. You'll receive the highest video resolution your TV can accept, all the way up to 1080p over HDMI.

The Bose Lifestyle system has amazing sound quality. The tine speakers that come along with this producing amazing sound. The surrond on this is excellent as well. Though a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

This review is actually for the Series I Lifestyle 38. All I have to say is that Bose has very good customer service. My unit is over 6-years old and the hard drive broke. I called up customer service, and they are refurbishing the whole unit and giving me a 1 year warranty for $200.
