5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Home Theatre System!
I've had my Lifestyle 48 system for about a year now and could not be happier. It took a week to store my 311 CDs into the uMusic system (it takes 10 at a time), but it's worth it.

I've read many complaints about Bose, but I'm really happy with the product and their customer service. I think the sound is very good for both DVD and CD. However, you have to go...

1.0 out of 5 stars I can't believe I fell for this...
Well the best thing I can say about Bose is if you put everything back in the carton and run back to the store within 2 weeks they'll give you a full refund without much hassle.

I did exactly that...bought this thirty-seven-hundred-dollar hunkajunk mainly to please my wife who wanted a really small compact system, but when I plugged it all in I just wanted to...

However, you have to go through the AdaptiQ CDs otherwise it can sound flat. IMHO the system looks great and there is definitely an advantage to not cluttering your home with massive wall blowing speakers. My old system (cost about the same) had a lot louder bass, but I prefer the sound of my Bose.

Anyway, I think it comes down to how you perceive music. I listened to several systems and feel the Bose is not inferior to any system when it comes to sound. The salesperson at Tweeter tried very hard to get me to buy some other brand, he cranked up the sound and definitely Bose was not in the same league when it came to sound quantity, but at lower volumes (which I prefer to listen music at), the Bose was the best. Movies are also great, although it does not have THX (for whatever that is worth).

I think fewer than 5% of people who 'claim' to have owned a Bose and then found the sound 'terribe' are telling the truth. It just can't be.

Also, several auto makers like Ferrari, Porsche and Benz offer Bose sound systems on their cars....they don't need Bose to sell their cars and I am assuming went with the best quality product.

You won't regret if you buy Bose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lifestyle 48 is worth every penny!, November 16, 2005

I just recently purchased the Lifestyle 48, setup was minimal, tuning took a few minutes and sound quality was that of the Bose demo studio. (which I figured it would NOT be) I did sign up for the 18 months no interest acct and like all they go up to like 20% afterwards. We've used this method for other purchases and intend on paying off prior to the 18 mo. Currently Bose is offering the Roomate with any 38 or 48 purchase! Great deal. I was a little disapointed with the $150 extra for wall mounts for the cube speakers but I had a great sales person at a BOSE store that made me aware of that cost prior to settling. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone considering one to go to a Bose store.. not Best Buy, etc. THe price is the same and you'll get the deal with the Roomate thru Feb. I know the sales people vary and some are pushy, but others are trully personable and great! Want a good demo if you just bought one!? Try the Eagles 'When Hell freezes' DVD in DTS!

4.0 out of 5 stars I like it but the unit is not as well made., May 12, 2007
This review is from: Bose Lifestyle 48 White DVD Home Entertainment System (Electronics)
I have bought 4 of these systems over the years and notice that the units themselves are becoming poorer quality. The feet come off the sub woofer and they scratch easier. I noticed on mine it is made in Mexico. I don't know if they have always been made Mexico or if this is new. I do like the sound and the system I just wish they would improve the quality of the units themselves. They are charging you for it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, September 25, 2005
This review is from: Bose Lifestyle 48 White DVD Home Entertainment System (Electronics)
This product is very good. You can probably get something for a little less, but if you have the money, this system is the way to go. (By the way, one reviewer who gave this product one star also purchased THREE other Bose products and gave them each one star, citing how horrible Bose is and how he returned each item. Clearly, his reviews should be taken with a grain of salt...)

Well the best thing I can say about Bose is if you put everything back in the carton and run back to the store within 2 weeks they'll give you a full refund without much hassle.

I did exactly that...bought this thirty-seven-hundred-dollar hunkajunk mainly to please my wife who wanted a really small compact system, but when I plugged it all in I just wanted to crawl under a rock and kill myself, that's how bad it was!!! No highs, no lows, just this dead castrated sound...even my friend's Sony home theater in a box sounded better than this, and he only paid three hundred dollars for it!!!

Since that time I have consulted a number of audio forums such as ecoustics dot com, home theater forum dot com, and avsforum dot com, and have found many people who were happy to tutor me. After about a week of research I ended up buying most of my HT components online and ended up with a system that sounds 1000 times better for about 1/4 of what I paid for this Bose marketing scam.
